Lots of people these days are using bumper stickers as a marketing tactics because of its low cost and also because it is very easy to use. For all the businesses who have customers belonging to a niche segment (like college students with maths as a subject), or who target customers at a location, this does a lot of good. It gives you the desired results and costs just about 25 cents per sticker. If you are interested in knowing more, read on.

Before we move on, let’s understand what bumper stickers are. A bumper sticker is an adhesive label or sticker with a message, intended to be attached to the bumper of an automobile and to be read by the occupants of other vehicles – although they are often stuck onto other objects.

Bumper stickers help spread your word because people observe bumper stickers when they go to a parking lot, when they follow another car or when they are on the road and your car is passing by! In all these cases, your bumper sticker can create a ‘touch point’ without you being there.

You can make a bumper sticker as per your taste and needs. There just are no rules about how to make your own bumper sticker. So long as the sticker is not too big that people refuse to put it on their cars or too small for anyone to notice it, it’s ok. It’s just completely flexible and just up to you.

This flexibility also creates some problems. If your sticker is designed with just your logo or with plenty of text or it oversells your product, it will not be of much help to you. If you really want it to work, it should be able to connect with the customers. Either it should help them in some way or it should be witty and humorous or it should have ideas similar to those people. A perfect one actually helps THEM express themselves.

Think about how your customers can feel that THEY are expressing themselves by putting YOUR sticker on their bumper. The more innovative you can get, the better it is. Your customers will consume your bumper stickers and viral goes your marketing message.

Use tips (beauty tips if you are a beautician) or corroborate your other marketing message using bumper stickers. You can also ride on other trends and fads. E.g. it could be about support to a sports group or various sports groups. You can make a sticker for each of the rival sports group! The same applies to politics as well (like a presidential election) though it’s a little more risky.

You can follow some other rules to make your sticker more viral. Making it ’scarce’, or making it a status symbol are some examples. People would love to have it then and would feel proud in showing it off. When other people notice it, even they would want it. Don’t you think that’s cool!

Use bumper stickers responsibly. And use it cleverly. They will reward you with lots of referring customers and profits.
