You hear about people making money online but a lot of affiliate marketers work part-time. Why? Well, most of them are too busy to devote enough time to generate substantial traffic to their websites. If they had more good quality traffic their income could increase for their affiliate marketing. The truth is that it takes real time to build that traffic for many reasons.

A lot of the traffic-generation products’ sales pages out there promise you thousands of targeted visitors within a few days. The truth and the reality of getting targeted traffic is that you don’t know what kind of keywords you want to target until you’ve done some testing to see which keywords are most profitable. To be a smarter marketer who works less and achieves more you need to focus on the profitable keywords that are worth your effort to rank well for.

What most marketers do is create a list of keywords they want to target and start creating and publishing site content using their generated keywords list as a basis, or checklist for what their sites should be writing about. With this kind of strategy (using a keywords list as the basis for what your site should publish content about) each article or post will try to incorporate one or more of those keywords into each article, page or post on the sites. However, as mentioned here in this article smarter marketers focus on ranking well for the more profitable keywords first and discovering these keywords takes time.

There are 2 ways to discover your profitable keywords and one is free and the other one costs money. The free methods requires installing tracking software on your site to see which keyword searches that brought people to your site ended up converting into sales. The paid method involves using pay-per-click advertising to quickly determine which keywords are most profitable.

One method that I have observed is affiliates who dive into a new niche market and set up some pay-per-click advertising to quickly find out what the profitable keywords are. After a few hundred dollars of advertising these marketers know for sure which keywords are most profitable, then they start building site content focusing on those keywords. This also can tell you how much traffic to expect from searches for those keywords. If you set up your pay-per-click advertising to display every time the word is searched, that is one view you will see in your AdWords statistics. That way you’ll know how much realistic traffic to expect from Google.

There is another less complex way to get traffic to your site. It is powerful and combines the power of pay-per-click traffic and writing tons of on site content for high rankings. That is article marketing. Article marketing will bring in immediate traffic and it will help you with link building for your site. That helps you achieve high rankings for your sites. How exactly is article marketing a combination of PPC traffic and natural, organic traffic?

When you write an article you can get it syndicated to thousands of sites using Unique Article Wizard. Then you will see an immediate traffic surge for a few days or weeks just from one article. It depends on your article content and what your anchor text was, you will begin to see which keywords are converting well. Meanwhile people will find your syndicated articles on other people’s sites and in article directories right away. Until the time comes when your sites are ranking well for those terms that’s how article syndication is almost just as good as having your sites all ranking well for your profitable keywords. So you see, article marketing is the most effective way to discover your profitable keywords for free at the same time you are getting immediate targeted traffic. The article syndication process builds up your site’s rankings.
