Achieving online success is easy for some and difficult for others. Why is this the case you might ask? It all comes down to having the right tools that get the job done. This is true of most things in life and especially true when it comes to online marketing and search engine optimization. The good news is that there are very powerful SEO tools on the market today that cost very little to own or use.

Learn about your website. It has always been amazing to me that you don’t know as much about your own website as you think you do. Not only do you need to know how your website is built, but its also beneficial to inspect the foundation. From my perspective the underlying code is key. Check your site against W3C standards to ensure it meets basic coding standards.

Focus on on-page optimization. All of the link building in the world isn’t going to help if your site doesn’t make the most of on-page optimization factors. These factors include everything from using the proper tags to placing your keyword throughout the text. I strongly recommend including your keywords within the first twenty-five and last twenty-five words on your page.

Search engines like Google favor sites that load quickly. The reason why this is so critical is because page load times are an essential factor in user experience. Consider two sites that offer valuable information. The first loads in about 4 second and the other in 12. Which one provides a better user experience? You guessed it, the one that loads quickly. Consider page load times when working to optimize your site. There are plenty of tools that can help you determine load times quickly.

Submitting your website to major search engines can be one way to improve the timing associated with getting your site listed. I’ve used site submission whenever a new site is promoted and I need it indexed quickly. That said, I don’t believe that site submission is a strong aspect of any SEO campaign. This is because if your site is already structured the right way, it won’t take long to be indexed by a search engine.

Develop in bound links to your site to improve ranking. When other sits link to yours, you create information back to search engines informing them of your meaning. Specifically, the Google Page Rank of the sites linking to yours determine your placement on search engine results. If you want to improve your rankings, develop inbound links from third party websites that already have an established Google page rank.

If doing business online, you can find plenty of tools that can help you validate your code, evaluate on page factors, determine the speed of your website, help you submit to search engines, and develop in-bound links. Chance are, if you want a single tool that can do all of these things, it wont be free. But as I like to say, you get what you pay for.

To make the most of your online marketing campaigns, SEO will give you the biggest boost. The good news is that you can succeed with organic rankings by using online tools that are cost effective and easy to use. Don’t waste your precious time doing everything manually. Rather, spend time researching effective online tools and get going. You’ll save valuable time and money.
