How are we supposed to know which advice to take about the best way to lose weight? In reality, most pills and slimming products do not work, and most companies are just out to take our money! Here’s what we discovered about weight loss programs when we sorted the wheat from the chaff…

Our quest was to discover real information, written by authors of merit. Responsible people that understood our needs and provided useful information. The key to this problem is knowledge! This was our fundamental. We wanted education that would be on-going, not something that ate into our budget every week.

We went for practical ‘real’ programs and dismissed all the fad and product-based slimming regimes. They’re never a long-term solution.

Our chosen programs have been written by insightful individuals that comprehend the issues associated with obesity. They offer practical guidance and workable instructions on banishing the fat for good. The truths you’ll read about may surprise you. They’ll certainly have a beneficial effect on your health. Your family and close friends will notice the change in you VERY quickly.

The Solution Actually Is Available Then? Very definitely – though it’s not surprising it’s taken so long for you to find it! But there is a program that will change your life – we absolutely promise.

Many of us have struggled with one diet or other for most of our adult lives. Our weight reduces when we first start dieting, then it goes up again the minute we eat normally. Figures show that over 93 percent of weight reduction programs don’t work for us – probably because they’re too punishing to maintain over the long term.

A great deal of time and money goes into a professional athlete’s nutritional program. Clearly we are not saying you need an athlete’s diet, but we can learn the lessons about optimal nutrition from the sports industry. Very practical usable dietary systems can be produced from these results – then ordinary people can adopt them.

But we have to stop putting things off. It’s very rewarding to see visible changes occurring so quickly. But we’ll get no-where if we always put things off. Read the facts now, and have a go! Be pleased with yourself for starting.

A house will look like your home only after adorning it according to your preferences and lifestyle. The interior design and decoration of a house can say a lot about the personality of the owner so you must be cautious while undertaking this exercise.

It is easy for an artistically inclined person to come up with great interior design ideas. There are many interior design information sources that are available in the market alongside many agencies, which specialize in this kind of work. However if you decide to go alone, without taking assistance from experts, then you can benefit from the following guidelines.

You must begin by thinking about the look you want for your house. Try to focus on an idea that you consider to truly represent your personality. For example, you can choose a modern interior design, which makes use of space carefully or a more traditional and lavish European design, which will give your home a classy look.

The shades must match the theme. It is better to make use of lighter colours if your house is not too big and does not receive a lot of sunlight. If you want to make use of darker colours then you can develop shadows in your house by making use of covered lamps instead of relying on simple tube lights or bulbs.

Furnishing choices for the house should take both your style preferences and comfort into account. If you live in a studio then you should use foldable and multi-purpose furniture which will serve several requirements without taking up too much area. If your home is larger then you do not need to be concerned about the size of the furniture, but keep in mind the functionality aspects.

You must select floor mats, curtains, bed sheets etc., which go well with the style of the rest of the house. Remember that you should always be careful and considerate in designing your home as otherwise you would risk forming a negative impression on your guests.

Search Engine Optimisation takes into account the factors used by Google, Bing etc. when they position websites in their natural listings. The natural listings form the main body of a Search Engine’s pages. Paid listings are separate to natural listings. In a typical Google or Bing search, you can see the paid listings in the right column and in the yellow box at the top. The ‘natural’ listings are straight from the main index. Algorithms are used to determine the position of a web site in a Search Engine directory.

Plainly our aim is to get our site up with the top ones. We’re unlikely to get noticed if we’re number 8 on the tenth page! Only those in the Search Engine’s ‘inner circle’ know all the factors used to position sites. It’s not in the SE’s interest to tell people everything they do.

Because of this, much technical expertise has developed around the subject. We have Search Engines constantly developing new technology on the one hand. Leading to great mystique over their ratings methodology. On the other hand, there’s Search Engine Optimisation. SEO empirically measures and tests data to establish the more significant factors that the SE’s are using.

The objective is to maximise both ‘on-page’ and ‘off-page’ optimisation. There are also ‘off-web’ factors such as demographic and geographic information – but we have no control over this area. (We’ve covered ‘Off Page’ factors in a separate article, as there wasn’t enough room here.)

‘On-Page’ SEO

If we can make changes to our site to make it more friendly to Search Engines, this is called ‘on-page’ optimisation. This is quite straight-forward – it simply requires correctly setting up your site. It involves such factors as – Using internal links, keywords, header tags and meta tags.

That might sound like gobbledy-gook, but don’t be alarmed! Actually, though on page work is straightforward it probably accounts for little. Indeed, it could be said to basically not have much influence at all. Many years ago, you used to be able to dupe the SE’s with lots of on-page factors. However, those days are long gone.

Having said that, if the website benefits from off page optimisation, then on page work should be looked at. When that’s happened, on-page factors can be optimised.

Take Counsel – Avoid doing SEO on keywords that have millions of listings. Take car insurance for instance. In Britain alone you’d get seventy million sites listed. When you’re just getting going, it’s not a great idea to face such huge competition!

On the other hand… The phrase ‘Southampton Car Insurance’ only brings in three hundred thousand. (Assuming I was a car insurance provider in Southampton.) This still seems quite a large amount, but it’s actually not in search terms.

I’ve a much better chance in the rankings having added the word ‘Southampton’. In actual fact, it takes very deep pockets to get a premier listing for a term like ‘car insurance’. I would actually be competing with the insurance conglomerates! Not the best way to do things at all!

We should concentrate on more accurate ‘phrases’ that give us less competition. They’re known as long tail searches, because they’ll have several keywords. It depends on your competition, but long-tail searches can be up to 6 or 7 words. Usually, a long-tail phrase is three or four words.

We prefer to begin optimisation strategies with phrases that bring in less than five hundred thousand results. Sometimes we’ll consider higher counts if the top results are not benefitting from optimisation. As time goes on, we’ll benefit from an automatic improvement on the bigger terms as well. And as our work makes progress, we’ll be onto the bigger terms a few months down the road. This strategy is also far more targeted at the start. Frankly, we’re only interested in the customers who are looking specifically for what we offer. There’s much more chance these people will buy!

You should also build back links to various different pages – and not just your website’s homepage. The SE’s respond well to this. Product Group pages are a good place for back links. It’s worth driving specific search terms to these pages – they often have links to lots of other product pages. Don’t just create back-links to your home-page. Bing, Yahoo and Google are all paying more attention to the way a website’s pages are managed and listed.

When it comes to weight loss, we can accelerate our plan by combining regular exercise with a healthy diet. Some people don’t like the idea of having to exercise, but even a little exercise done often enough will produce benefits. In addition to weight loss, stronger muscles are built when we exercise regularly.

In terms of metabolic rates, fat is slow, but muscle is more vigorous. So we need muscle to burn a greater number of calories up more speedily. Individuals with more muscles deplete their calorific intake sooner. We’ll also see an improved body shape and tone when our muscle is developed.

Start by introducing exercises on a gradual basis. One of the best ways to fit more exercise into an already busy life is to incorporate it into things you already do. Avoid taking the lift or escalator – undertake to walk up at least three flights of stairs instead. Deliberately leave your motor some distance from your workplace, and do the last bit on foot. Whenever you take public transport buy a ticket for three quarters of the journey and then walk the rest.

Try to exercise 5 days out of 7. If you do, you’ll soon notice the results – especially if you manage over half-an-hour each session. Maybe vary the exercises on different days. You’ll give yourself a much better chance of sticking with the program then.

Becoming toned and fitter does not need to be a downer! Ask around and see if you can encourage a second person to join you. The easiest exercise that any of us can take is walking. If you build up a good pace, you’ll benefit from more than simply losing weight.

Getting fit means you can reduce your risk of heart problems by fifty percent. Various cancers are less likely also. If we’re fit and active, we’re much less likely to get high blood pressure. A brisk walk each day will protect against depression and anxiety, and help towards a good night’s sleep. So as well as becoming trimmer over time, we’ll also be much fitter.

When going for a walk, pick out some comfy clothes. Several tee-shirts and a fleece are better than one heavy item. You might like to invest in some specialist footwear. Whether you choose boots or shoes, buy a pair that support your feet well.

Go through the following checklist when you’re about to get going: Stand up straight, weight evenly distributed. Relax your shoulders and draw in your tummy. Do be sure to warm yourself up well. Rolling your shoulders and stretching helps, as do a few squats and knee lifts. And last but not least, march on the spot for a couple of minutes and then off you go!

It’s important to develop a good walking style, so keep your back straight and let any tension go. When you arrive back home at the end of your walk, repeat your warm up in reverse, decreasing the size of your movements. Start with a few fairly short walks, and build up as you go. Brisk walking is generally good for all of us, but if you’re in doubt, consult your doctor first.

Our friendships can have quite an influence on how we live our lives. Apparently, if we’re in the company of a person for any length of time, we start to mimic their habits. This is usually thought to reflect in people’s opinions and attitudes; having a mutual regard for certain things, like the law or education for example.

Lately though, studies are claiming that we will have more tendency to be overweight if we hang around with others who are overweight. We will eat more when in the company of good friends who eat more. A small study undertaken in America found that overweight kids and teenagers ate more when they were eating with a friend who was also overweight, than when they ate with a normal weight child.

Indeed, all the young people studied (aged 9 to 15) ate more when they were with friends than strangers regardless of their size. But it was when the heavier friends teamed up that the most calories were consumed. Clinical nutritionists were interested in this research. The most revealing dynamic it discovered was the influence of friends.

Frankly, having more relaxed habits when with friends is not a big surprise. We all feel more awkward in strange company. With friends, we gain a sort of unspoken permission for our actions. In a subconscious way, we permit them to define tolerable behaviour.

Over 60 kids and teens of all sizes were reviewed for three quarters of an hour. Some were put with a person they knew well, and some with an unfamiliar person. Every couple had things to play with and food to eat.

The familiar couples put away more food than the unfamiliar ones. But the overweight pairs who were familiar with each other got through the most. And the variations were considerable, as shown below.

The heavier friends together consumed an average of almost 750 cals each. Heavy kids with standard weight chums ate just under 450 cals, and standard weight kids ate approx 500 cals whatever weight their mate was. Similar ‘friendly’ peer pressure is also evident when kids decide whether to start smoking.

Back to the eating patterns – and the researchers concluded that the way children eat is very much tied into the habits of their friends. But this can be argued both ways – if a young person is taught sound nutrition and puts it into practice, they could be instrumental in influencing many others. What better reason for more nutritional training in schools?

My weight has gone up and down all my married life. And I figured that as I approached my fifties, things would only get worse. But I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way! I’m past fifty now, and no longer need to lose any weight.

My ’secret’ is keeping my blood sugar levels stable. Around 4pm, I used to get a sap in energy and I’d get a longing for food. And so I’d munch on a chocolate bar for an instant pick-me-up. This then just added to the increasing store of fat around my middle!

What’s also quite daunting is how much fat was additionally mounting up in my arteries, heart and even my brain. But now my blood-sugar remains level, and I don’t get the lows in energy and hunger. And it’s not just the blood sugars that have levelled out – I don’t break out into a menopausal sweat nearly as often. But the best thing for me is enjoying a great night’s sleep.

The ’secret’ is to eat every couple of hours, but just don’t eat much. Before, I’d skip breakfast or maybe lunch quite regularly, claiming I was just too busy to stop and eat. I’d then stuff myself at dinner, and end up uncomfortable all evening.

I ought to have been taking in modest sized ‘meals’ several times a day. Our metabolic rate peaks around the middle of the day, and slows down rapidly after that. Our important meals then are those eaten before the end of the afternoon – later ones have a tendency to be laid down as fat.

Sitting down to have breakfast is now top of my list every morning. I only eat a small amount, which saves me having to tot up the calorific value. (Our stomachs are not massive empty containers – we should be aware not to overstretch them).

Lunch is now usually my main meal. I try to restrict pasta, rice and wheat. I still enjoy a bite of something around 4pm, but it’s now light and nutritious as the cravings have gone. I eat protein with every meal, and go for as many colourful vegetables as I can find (as they contain the most antioxidants).

I haven’t cut out fat, though I’m fussy what fats I eat. Nuts and seeds are highly calorific, but great eaten in moderation.

Finally my weight has gone down because my alcohol consumption has gone down – I now just drink a glass of dry white wine a couple of times a week. Instead of wine and beer I drink iced tea and mineral water, which is very refreshing. Has it been hard, after all these years? It’s been a lot easier than I imagined actually. Not only has my weight dropped a couple of dress sizes, but I’m more energetic than I’ve been for years!

SEO is essentially a constantly evolving study of what factors the search engines take into account when they ‘rank’ you in their natural search listings. These organic listings are what we predominantly see when we search for any keyword. They are not to be confused with the Pay per Click entries. On the major Search Engines, you’ll see a box at the top, and a column down the right hand side. These are the paid adverts. Whereas the free listings are taken from the main index. The Search Engines look at a site’s relevancy and value when establishing its position in the hierarchy.

Obviously, we want to be as high up the page(s) as possible. If we’re the 7th listing on page 9 then we’re hardly going to get prospects beating our door down! We can’t know for sure about all the criteria Google and the like use to rank us. It isn’t something they publicise to the rest of us!

So as time has gone on, a sophisticated industry has evolved to get the most from the listings. On the one side you have SE’s like Google deliberately filing technology patents in many different areas. This makes determining their ratings methods more complex. And then you have an industry built around SEO. This uses empirical testing and measuring of various factors to determine which ones are the most important.

Search Engine Optimisation deals with both on-page and off-page issues. In addition there are geographic and demographic factors, but SEO cannot control these. (Off-Page optimisation is examined in an additional feature.)

Which may well sound like a foreign language to you! For the most part, although this work isn’t complicated, its effects are minimal. In truth, many argue its relevance has disappeared altogether! Previously we could make an impact with On Page configurations. That hasn’t been possible for a long time though.

Nevertheless – Extend the phrase to Southampton car insurance and it’s under a third of a million. (Presuming that was my market). So a much more realistic target.

We can do much more with this. In point of fact, a phrase like Car insurance would massively set me back. I’d face fierce rivalry from wealthy opposition! Not a sensible option for anyone.

A precise description is much more valuable to us. We call them Long-tail phrases, as they’re made up of a few particularly chosen keywords. Depending on how competitive your market is, the phrases could be from 2 to 7 words long. Typically they will be 3 or 4 words long.

Your home page isn’t the only place for back-links. Spread them liberally around your website. This technique is referred to as Deep Linking. For example, build links to the pages that group products. That’s because pages like this generally have links to several individual pages. So don’t limit the back links to one page. A house feels like your home only after it is decorated as per your tastes and reflects your persona. Many people who are innovative try their hand at interior design but often fail because they are always bothered about getting it wrong.

Even if you consider entrusting the decoration or renovation of your home to a specialist in interior designing, you might still not like the thought of completely trusting another person for doing such an important job on your house all by himself. Therefore, it is important to strike a balance – first decide your preferences and then consider hiring someone for the job.

Here are some guidelines, which can simplify the tough but important task of picking an interior designer. Hire a person who is a reputed interior designer and has experience and reliability.

Inform the designer about your requirements in the first meeting. He would most likely offer some thoughts to suit your needs and that will enable you to judge if his thinking fits your needs. Several other aspects which you can consider while choosing the interior designer are his previous jobs, his awareness of new developments, and references from customers.

Even if you take up the task of renovation and interior design of your home by yourself, you must take care of some key things. First, you need to have knowledge about the appearance you wish for your house. Once you are done with that, you can seek help from design booklets, television, or other sources to ensure the type of furniture and other articles that are required, and if they will fit within your budget. After all the stuff is bought, you are ready to decorate your dream house in a setting of your liking.

A plain boring house becomes a home only if it is attractively designed and if it goes with the personality of the owner. The reputation of the owner among other people often rests on the interior design and decoration of the house and it is very important to be cautious about these things.

Coming up with ideas for an interior design that is functionally superior and pleasant at the same time is not very difficult. You can seek help from books on this topic and from interior design experts for performing this task. But if you are looking to do the designing on your own, here are a few tips that will help you out.

The first step is to choose a theme that goes well with your tastes and preferences. Try to concentrate on a look which is in sync with your personality. For instance, you can go for a modern interior design, which uses space carefully or a more traditional and lavish European style woodwork design, which will give the house a classical look.

The colours must complement the style that you have chosen. If there is a dearth of natural light in your home then you should pick lighter shades. If you like colours which are dark then you can make use of artificial light in form of lamps in order to give a shadowy look to your home.

Furnishing options for the house should take both your style preferences and the object’s utility into account. Ideal furniture for a small house is that which occupies less space and can satisfy many needs. If you have a more spacious home then you can go for more elaborate furniture options.

The drapes, curtains, wall hangings and floor mats should all be chosen with care to match with the complete look and feel of the interiors. Being selective and alert when undertaking interior design is critical. A badly designed home is the last thing you would want in today’s age when reputation management is so important.

Losing weight can be as difficult psychologically as it is physically. It can become a struggle if we have to make family meals; eating our own meagre diet whilst still having to prepare tempting fare for the others. How can we improve our lot, and continue to please the family?

Whatever we serve up, when we’re aiming to lose weight the first thing we can address is our portion size. Starting a meal with a full plate is very gratifying, so why not buy yourself a smaller plate? Don’t rush to be the first to start eating. Take your time and chew your food well. This will leave you feeling more satiated, and prevent you from always finishing before everyone else.

Most family meals can be eaten when you’re dieting, if you restrict the amount of fat and carbohydrate on your plate. Make up for it with lots of vegetables. And avoid the temptation of crusty bread! For seconds, think carefully before you indulge yourself. A small baked apple is fine – simply leave out the custard or cream.

But you can also sneak in the odd diet meal for the whole family. Delicious low calorie meals can be created without anyone suspecting a thing! Fresh herbs make a great addition to spaghetti dishes – and add plenty of mushrooms and courgettes. Instead of oil, use tinned tomatoes and olives for juiciness.

When you’re shopping for food, always pick out lean cuts of meat. Remember also that fish can be a lower fat alternative. Whatever the rest of your family weigh, it’s still advantageous for them as well to eat lean meat. Roast chicken is a good all-rounder, just make sure you remove any skin and eat breast meat where possible. Select potatoes that have a naturally creamier texture, such as Vivaldi or Maris Piper. Then you can feel fulfilled without loading them with butter.

Watch out for breakfast cereals – some are loaded with sugar so always read the ingredients before buying. Cereal bars are best avoided too – they look like a healthy snack, but most are incredibly sweet. We also probably consume a load of hidden calories in our drinks. Choose sodas with artificial sweeteners, and make them last longer than usual by adding ice.

When socialising, alcohol really increases our calorific intake. Iced tea can make a refreshing change and is a good thirst quencher. Serve your drinks in wine glasses so they still feel more sophisticated.

Naturally, we have to change our habits if we want to shed the pounds. But with a few little tweaks here and there we can seriously cut back on the calories.

Losing weight can be as difficult psychologically as it is physically. It can become a struggle if we have to make family meals; eating our own meagre diet whilst still having to prepare tempting fare for the others. How can we improve our lot, and continue to please the family?

First off we need to tackle the amount we eat. Whatever food we consume, if we take in less of it we’ll lose weight. It’s pleasing to see a plateful of food at the beginning of our meal – so eat from one that’s smaller than everyone else’s. Eat your food very slowly, chewing every morsel at least twenty times before swallowing. You won’t always finish your meal ahead of the others then, but you will feel more sated.

Basically you can often eat the same food as your family is eating, but cut down on the amount of rice, pasta, potatoes and fatty meat. Eat more veg to avoid getting too hungry. Just don’t be tempted to fill up on bread rolls! If you have a sweet tooth, take care not to go overboard. A portion of stewed apple from the crumble is one thing, but treacle sponge and custard is quite another.

On the other hand, you can make slimmer’s meals for everyone. No-one need suspect they’re eating a low-cal meals with some of the recipes you can use. Use lemon juice, garlic and fresh herbs for a really scrummy pasta dish. Tinned tomatoes are a great base for the sauce, and no oil is needed if you stir in a little low fat creme fraiche before serving.

At the supermarket or store, always choose low fat meat and dairy products. After a while, your family will get used to these healthier products and enjoy them just as much. Breast of chicken or turkey is a good choice, especially if you eat it without the skin. Boil or steam potatoes rather than frying. Maris Piper is one variety that has a good waxy consistency. There’s no need to add high calorie spreads or butter then.

Alcohol contains a lot of calories, so when you’re socialising it’s good to find some alternatives. Try drinking tomato juice with ice or spring water. Watered down apple juice makes a passable wine lookalike if you don’t want to be different from the crowd.

Naturally, we have to change our habits if we want to shed the pounds. But with a few little tweaks here and there we can seriously cut back on the calories.

For more efficient weight loss, try eating more slowly. Because it’s currently been shown that how fast we eat affects how much we eat. Speedy eaters have a tendency to eat bigger meals than slow eaters, according to recent research. This was proved when diners were asked to eat until they felt satiated.

You can personally empirically test this. At dinner tonight, eat as much as you want very quickly. When you have the same meal next time, slow down the rate that you take in each bite and masticate your food very thoroughly. It’s more than probable that you’ll eat less the second time around. Additionally you won’t feel so hungry a couple of hours on following the slower meal where you ate less food.

We often eat too much when we’re speed eating, because we haven’t given the food time to reach our stomach. The bloated feeling we can get is a consequence of this behaviour.

Furthermore, chewing food is all part of the digestive procedure. Well chewed food assists dieters with weight loss, as the whole digestive process is then optimised.

How we eat influences how much we eat. We should sit at the dining table and focus on what we’re eating. Then we can eat more graciously, and put our cutlery down when we’ve had enough.

Perhaps also if we’re eating around a table with friends, the meal is part of a social event where it’s natural to take our time. Whatever the reason, it’s far more beneficial than eating slumped in front of the TV.

If we get too hungry between meals we’re also apt to gobble our food down. Aim to prevent this by planning meals in advance, and eat smaller meals more frequently. A chocolate bar might give us an instant hit when we feel drowsy, but it won’t last for long. It’s often impossible to eat a meal every few hours during the week. So why not take snacks to work like oatcakes and seeds.

To sum up, there definitely seems to be a link between the length of time we spend chewing our food, and how satisfying it is in the stomach. In other words by allowing our taste buds to enjoy food for longer, we inadvertently enhance our weight management.

When we want to lose weight, we should be careful not to rely on out-dated theories about dieting. For example – You might have always thought that a few snacks here and there are what lead to the slippery slope of weight gain. How true is this in reality?

The purists would have us believe that sticking to three nutritious meals a day is the way to drop the pounds. And yet this thinking is now being turned on its head by some. How can this be?

Surely eating more meals will just increase the number of calories we consume, not reduce them? Mentally we associate hunger with weight loss. The truth though is interestingly more complex.

We’re likely to feel weak if we leave several hours between meals. Our enthusiasm for food therefore can be excessive when the next meal arrives. And often this leads us to eating larger quantities than we should. This predominantly occurs with our last meal of the day. Then we end up with more food in our stomach at completely the wrong time – shortly before we go to bed!

Conversely, if we were to consume proper food five times a day, we’d never have a huge appetite. This sends a signal to our body that food is delivered frequently. It can efficiently process and absorb the nutrients in the most optimal way.

If it’s not fed on a frequent basis, it has to retain fat in case it needs an energy reserve later on. Hence we can struggle to lose weight despite the fact that we’re starving ourselves.

When we feed ourselves little and often, we get a greater number of calories in the morning and afternoon. This gives us a chance to process the food when we’re more active, and so less of it remains in our system overnight. If we get too hungry before a meal it’s harder to restrict what we eat as well as how much.

We are not satisfied with a nice crispy salad. We want stodgy carbo-loading food such as breads and pastas. Which is a nightmare if you are struggling to control your calories! To conclude – for effective weight loss that does not leave you feeling ravenous, stick to small nutritious meal plans and eat several times a day.

The Internet is one of the most powerful business launching platforms of all time. It has never been so easy for ordinary people to create profitable businesses. Internet home based businesses are thriving in this troubled economy.

The traditional, excessive start up costs, costly inventory, rent, employees, permits, insurance, and more have prevented the average person from starting their own business.

Thanks to the rapid growth of online consumers the business opportunities online are endless. More people than ever are making purchase over the internet. Ordinary people that are willing to try will make fortunes in the next few years selling online. The best part is that the intimidating high start up costs of traditional business is ridiculously low for an online store.

There are a lot of different opportunities on the web promising new online entrepreneurs near instant success.

The number one rule when looking for a mentor, info product, or software is…..If Its Too Good To Be True, It Probably Is.

When it comes to making money online there are no real short cuts. It takes work and patience. You will need to learn how to market a business online. This is not hard but it does take some study. Many newbies will waster months chasing gimmicky tools and buying every info product under the sun. The key is to choose a system and work it. You don’t have to read everything out there. Come up with a plan and stick to it. Once you have a basic understanding start acting.

Dropshipping is the preferred making money online opportunity. It is simple and profitable. It is also very easy for new business owners with limited internet marketing backgrounds to be profitable. A dropship business is one where you simply sale the product at retail and buy it wholesale per order. There is no inventory nor any shipping busy work. The manufacture will ship your orders for you. Few online home business opportunities better than drop shipping. I have seen new business owners make hundreds of thousands within a year of starting a dropshipping website.

Starting a successful dropship website requires proper market research. Focus on finding a specific product to promote. Trying to be another Walmart won’t work online. Consumer use search engines to find products to buy. Using the search engines to attract customers is a great way to get free customers to your site. Competing on the search engines with millions of other webpages is difficult. As you focus around a specific product though you greatly reduce your competition. You don’t have to sale thousands of products to make good money online. Your success will be largely determined by the quality of your research. The goal is to find a niche where there is high demand and low competition.

Instead of trying to take on electronic giants find a segment of the electronic niche and focus on it. For example a new e commerce site selling toasters or digital scanners. Focusing on a certain type of electronics will drastically reduce the amount of competition you face and give you a much better chance of succeeding. There are niche stores making thousands monthly selling spear guns, fly reels, teeth whiteners, and even reefs. The goal is to focus and be specific.

The most recommended online business opportunities for the average person to make a real online income is dropshipping.

Your first step is to find a the right mentor. A mentor or structured system is like buying a franchise. You will greatly increase your odds for success. Don’t waste time following multiple gurus pick on trusted source and take massive amounts of action. The sooner you start acting the sooner the checks start rolling in. One of the recommended resources is OnlineCashCreations. David Reid is one of the best guys I know.

Search Engine Optimisation is an ever changing discipline. It works to maximise a website’s ratings on the ‘natural’ search lists on major Search Engines. Natural or ‘organic’ lists form the main body of a SE page. These do not include the paid listings. The PPC (paid) entries tend to feature at the top and right side of the page. Whilst the other free ads have been listed by the SE’s. The order of each site is determined by its ‘importance’ and relevance to the keyword.

Obviously, we want to be as high up the page(s) as possible. If we’re the 7th listing on page 9 then we’re hardly going to get prospects beating our door down! We can’t know for sure about all the criteria Google and the like use to rank us. It isn’t something they publicise to the rest of us!

Search Engine Optimisation deals with both on-page and off-page issues. In addition there are geographic and demographic factors, but SEO cannot control these. (Off-Page optimisation is examined in an additional feature.)

Search Engine Optimisation ‘On-Page’

If we can make changes to our site to make it more friendly to Search Engines, this is called ‘on-page’ optimisation. This is quite straight-forward – it simply requires correctly setting up your site. It involves such factors as – Using internal links, keywords, header tags and meta tags.

Which may well sound like a foreign language to you! For the most part, although this work isn’t complicated, its effects are minimal. In truth, many argue its relevance has disappeared altogether! Previously we could make an impact with On Page configurations. That hasn’t been possible for a long time though.

The only time that ‘on-page’ becomes important is when you have taken care of ‘off-page’ and have a lot of inbound ‘back-links’. If that’s the case, internal linking and a certain amount of on-page fine-tuning can reap rewards.

Take Counsel – Avoid doing SEO on keywords that have millions of listings. Take car insurance for instance. In Britain alone you’d get seventy million sites listed. When you’re just getting going, it’s not a great idea to face such huge competition!

Nevertheless – Extend the phrase to Southampton car insurance and it’s under a third of a million. (Presuming that was my market). So a much more realistic target.

I could expect to get ranked far more easily for the longer phrase. In reality, getting ranked for car insurance would cost a fortune! I’d actually be head to head with the really big boys. So not a great idea – especially, in fact, when there are much better ways to go about it.

Therefore, we’re looking for phrases that yield less overall results – but quite accurately sum up what we do or what we offer. These ‘long tail’ phrases might contain a number of specific keywords. They could be anything from two to seven words in length. Generally we use 3 to 4 words.

Doctors talk about our body mass index when they refer to weight issues. A healthy index is anywhere between eighteen and a half and twenty five. Above twenty five, and we have a problem with our weight. Furthermore we’re defined as obese and morbidly obese respectively if we rise above first thirty and then forty.

To work out your own index – Use a metric rule to measure your height. Then record your weight in kilograms. Start with a multiplication sum – your height times itself. Then take that answer and divide it by how much you weigh.

To illustrate: you are 1.65m in height, so take 1.65 x 1.65 and you get 2.72. You weigh 82 kilos, so it’s 82 / 2.72 which is 30.15. In that example, you would be considered obese and therefore should look to changing your eating habits and exercise regime.

We can’t lose weight if we continue to consume foods highly saturated in fats and sugars (save for the odd treat now and again!). We can lose weight by eating more healthily, and eating less. Then the fat that’s previously entered our system will be converted into energy.

You should avoid crash diets which usually end up with you either feeling ill or giving up in desperation. So stay away from programs that restrict males to 1,400 daily calories and females to 1,000. Radical weight reduction can result, but it’s usually very short-lived!

There are no short- cuts to long-term healthy weight loss. Losing up to two pounds a week can be achieved if you simply cut out five hundred calories or so a day. Clearly this isn’t going to make an impact this month, but you will be healthier by this time next year.

Fat-laden food tends to contain the highest calories. A great way to reduce your calorific intake therefore is to lower your consumption of food that’s high in fat. Replace fatty food with more fibre, from wholegrains, fruit and veg. These changes won’t show rapid weight loss, but you’ll soon feel the benefits of your healthier diet.

Avoid skipping meals – this really doesn’t help with calorie reduction. (Missed meals usually lead to high-calorie grazing). A number of lighter meals throughout the day is better in reality. It’s more difficult to get the weight off when you feel half-starved. The body metabolises more when it receives frequent healthy portions of food. This leads to an efficient system of weight loss.

To achieve anything new takes a certain amount of planning, with specific targets to measure progress. This applies to everything – including a weight loss regime. Barack Obama didn’t become the President of the USA without goal planning.

Take some time to work out what you want to achieve from losing weight, and put your goals in place. Achievable (if difficult) goals will make all the difference. An end goal, with mini-goals timed along the way will assist you greatly. Always specify your targets clearly.

Compose your own written contract using the following headers – this will help you to get psychologically committed to your cause. You should write your definition of what losing weight will mean – for example great looks, health, fun and so on. Stick pictures on your walls to remind you of what it’s going to be like when you’re slimmer. Make sure to refer to them before every work-out session.

Desire (why you’re doing it). This needs to be something that stirs an emotion within you. For instance is it because you want to gain the approval of another person, have more fun or feel less restricted?

Moving on now to Dedication: Set aside ‘official’ working-out times to help you commit to them. This prevents you from thinking about other things that you could be doing.

It helps to establish a routine, which in turn helps you to remain committed. Once your timetable has become established, you’ll take pride in your dedication. You’ll exercise all the better for it.

The purpose of a contract is to have written evidence of your Determination. It helps having a physical document that is there for all to see. Finally, a Disciplined individual will have the strength to cope with set-backs. Obviously there will be knocks along the way, but a well planned regime will bring structure to your weight loss efforts.

Read your contract every day, and add positive new jottings and pictures to it that will help you when the going gets tough. This will help you to see your goal through. Plan your work, and then work your plan with commitment. Ensure your weight loss success with the right goals and plans.

Look at any Best Seller list in bookshops today, and it will be full of works about the rich and famous. We learn that it’s not that they didn’t experience tough times, but that they didn’t allow the tough times to dominate their thought processes. That’s how it is; life’s achievers allow positive reasons why ‘they can’ to fill their minds, and ignore negative reasons why they can’t.

And so for someone attempting to reduce their weight, a positive mind-set is fundamental. You can only do it if you think you can! An up-beat, affirmative viewpoint harnesses the right results. On the other hand, a negative outlook blocks us and numbs our ‘can-do’ receptors.

It’s all down to our mental apparatus – something called the reticular activation system that automatically prompts our thoughts. Think of how many things that were key issues in the past have now become distance memories – that’s because thoughts that are no longer pressing are moved to our sub conscious mind.

When we attempt to do something, our RAS (Reticular Activation System) will search for anything of significance in the sub-conscious mind, and bring it to our attention. If we’re taking a walk for example, only the things that have meaning to us will be noticed.

Consequently, if we’ve been in the habit of generating positive thoughts and experiences that got fed into our sub conscious mind, those same vibes will be returned. But the sub-conscious can only return what it originally was given. So if it received negative information, it will send negative back.

Successful people seem to have developed the technique of ‘programming’ their subconscious with positive thoughts, thereby controlling their RAS. For achieving goals this makes the RAS an essential tool, because the sub-conscious mind doesn’t know what’s real or imaginary.

In other words, as it believes what it’s told, we need to create a very specific picture of our goal in our conscious mind. The RAS will then pass this on to our sub-conscious – which will then help us achieve the goal. It does this by bringing to our attention all the relevant information which otherwise might have remained as ‘background noise’.

Napoleon Hill once wrote that we can attain any reasonable goal if we keep it clearly in our mind. That’s as long as we don’t allow any negative thoughts about it. Of course, if we keep thinking that we can’t achieve a goal, our subconscious will help us not to achieve it.

You’ll see a mass of autobiographies of the rich & famous if you look at any best seller list today. There’s a common thread in every story, even though their lives might be very different – they dealt with the negatives by zoning-in on the positives. Only when we encourage a ‘can do’ mental attitude will we rise above the crowd.

And so for someone attempting to reduce their weight, a positive mind-set is fundamental. You can only do it if you think you can! An up-beat, affirmative viewpoint harnesses the right results. On the other hand, a negative outlook blocks us and numbs our ‘can-do’ receptors.

This is because we have a mechanism, called the Reticular Activation System. It tells the brain what to think about. We become familiar with many things over time that don’t continue to stay in the forefront of our minds – as we store all our previous experiences in the sub conscious bit, or the back so to speak.

Then, when we have a need to refer to something, our automatic RAS (reticular activation system) goes through our sub conscious to check if we’re holding anything relevant. So when we’re strolling down a road, things that have meaning to us come to our attention, but everything else doesn’t.

Therefore, if our conscious mind has generally been transferring positive, upbeat messages to our sub-conscious mind, that’s what it will send back. But if our sub-conscious has been given loads of downbeat messages, then that’s equally what will be sent back.

Successful people seem to have developed the technique of ‘programming’ their subconscious with positive thoughts, thereby controlling their RAS. For achieving goals this makes the RAS an essential tool, because the sub-conscious mind doesn’t know what’s real or imaginary.

Accordingly, we must consciously focus on a positive representation of our ideal target. This will then pass on to our subconscious via the RAS – and help us to achieve our goal. It works because at the right time, the relevant information for say weight reduction has been positively affirmed.

A positive mental attitude has long been understood. Abandon negative thinking and keep the focus on hitting the goal. On the other hand, if we set our mind on doubt and failure, we have very little chance of reaching our goals.

About the Author:

You’ll see a mass of autobiographies of the rich & famous if you look at any best seller list today. There’s a common thread in every story, even though their lives might be very different – they dealt with the negatives by zoning-in on the positives. Only when we encourage a ‘can do’ mental attitude will we rise above the crowd.

Adopting this focus whilst working on a slimming regime will make all the difference. You’ll reach your goal so much sooner with the right attitude. Holding positive thoughts in the forefront of our minds creates a way forward. But we get blocked if we allow unhelpful negatives to take over.

It’s all down to our mental apparatus – something called the reticular activation system that automatically prompts our thoughts. Think of how many things that were key issues in the past have now become distance memories – that’s because thoughts that are no longer pressing are moved to our sub conscious mind.

When we consciously attempt to do anything, our Reticular Activation System (RAS) will search the sub-conscious mind for any relevant information it holds, and bring it to our attention. If we’re walking down a street, we’re only made aware of things that have meaning to us – the rest is just background noise.

Consequently, if we’ve been in the habit of generating positive thoughts and experiences that got fed into our sub conscious mind, those same vibes will be returned. But the sub-conscious can only return what it originally was given. So if it received negative information, it will send negative back.

We have an element of control over this. Successful people have generally worked on their attitude and restricted the amount of negative being stored. And so the reticular activation system emerges as a brilliant mechanism for fulfilling our dreams. The sub conscious has no way of knowing whether information sent to it is imaginary or not.

The writer Napoleon Hill said that we can achieve any realistic goal if stop dwelling on negative thoughts about it. We must keep a positive focus. Naturally, if we’ve bombarded our thinking with negative and defeat, we can expect exactly that.

There is always a myth among men that women just like to receive expensive brand-named gifts for their birthdays. But I can tell you, it is not true (unless you consider your women as a gold-digger). Of course, it might not be a good idea to give your woman a Happy Meal toy or a box of chocolate that you bought at Texaco during clearance, but the reason here is not because the gift is cheap, but your action is. So, what makes a good birthday gift for women?

1. Cake. Cake is a very attractive weapon no matter your woman is on a diet or not. Putting candles on the cake will make it looks more romantic! To be more special, buying a Baskin Robbins ice-cream cake or even cupcakes are also good choices.

2. Flowers. Almost all women love flowers. Buy her favorite flowers or go and handpick a bunch of beautiful flowers yourself, all women including the most ridiculous one, will surely love this!

3. A nice dinner followed by a movie. Take her out to her favorite restaurant or prepare a nice dinner by yourself. Don’t bother too much even if you are not a good cook, it is the effort that counts. After the dinner, end the night with a romantic movie, either at the cinema or at home.

4. A cozy massage session. Take her to a spa or get a therapist home to giver her a cozy massage session. Of course, if you want to be more exotic, you can actually do it by yourself! To set a romantic atmosphere, light some candles, play some relaxing music and burn some home fragrance oil. If you can do this nicely, I am sure she will be addicted to you.

5. Formal event. Opera, concert, dance show and drama are good some choices. Remove your causal dressing and prepare your Tuxedo. Dressing handsomely is a must for a romantic night.

6. Picnic. Setting up an old fashioned picnic in a nice park or beach. Don’t forget to prepare sandwiches. You can make by yourself or buy them in supermarket.

7. Make her something by yourself. Even you are not an artist, drawer, cameraman or handicrafts man, you can still make you something special. Remember you have to make something just for her. Don’t put too much attention on the cost. You will find that the sentimental value is really precious.

A nicely-planned wedding day always turns out to be successful and memorable both for the couple and the gathered guests. A wedding day should only carry sweet memories for the couple, so anything that can ruin the day should be taken care of beforehand. It involves so much of detail that people in charge of occasion are always feeling jittery that something might go wrong. A good way to make sure that potential hiccups on the wedding day are lessened is by planning for services like pre wedding photography.

Since wedding photography is very important, the best way to test the photographer’s talent before employing him for the wedding day is to ask him for a pre-wedding photography session. Risking the photographs of perhaps the most significant day in your life is never a prudent choice as you are going to cherish your wedding memories through these photographs only. Hence to know whether the photographer’s expertise will match up to your hopes, you must sample his work before the momentous day by employing him in a pre-wedding photography session.

An elegant and comfortable wedding gown will also help you feel relaxed on the wedding day, and therefore it must be cautiously selected much before the day. A bad gown choice, such as a heavy dress for a beach wedding can create quite a lot of irritation and trouble and hence, such selections are a strict no-no.

All the pre wedding preparations and activities like pre wedding photography sessions might make you exhausted, but it is critical that you look and feel fit on the all important day. To ensure this, appropriate nourishment and diet before the wedding day is a necessity. Taking in lots of liquids will bring a fresh glow on your face on the day.

So if you are fast approaching your wedding day, then the above tips are sure to help you make the day relaxed and leave you with moments that you will fondly remember as long as you live.

When thinking about the changes we’d like to make in our lives, we usually have a picture of what that change looks like. We may visualise great trips away, having a large family home, a luxury car and perhaps a well respected position. It’s probable we’ll view our figure differently – with less body fat and a more toned physique.

Thinking of what we’d like to have can be the beginning of our goal-setting journey. Unless we have a vision of how things will look when we’ve reached the lofty heights of our personal success, we’ve little chance of ever getting there.

However, we have to be prepared to make some changes, prior to having all these brilliant things. As Albert Einstein said, “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity.” Or put another way, we’ll carry on having what we’ve always had if we carry on doing what we’ve always done.

Significant achievements only come about when we alter both what we do and the way we think. So the right thought process and effort comes first, to achieve the results we want to have. That we have to give in order to be given is a fundamental law of life. Though effort alone won’t inevitably bring results.

To realise the things we want in our lives, we have to behave in a manner that suggests our goals are a done deal! For example a person who hopes to be 25 lbs lighter nine months from now must meticulously follow a diet and exercise regime.

Working out each day has to come before meeting up with friends. Accomplishment thinking tells the slimmer it’s the work-out first, and the play will come later. The right attitude to doing what it takes will reap the rewards that much quicker.

Winning isn’t a matter of chance. Having an achiever’s state of mind is a powerful force if we start doubting ourselves, or get criticised by others.

Associating with successful thinkers helps. We can do this by reading biographies and watching interviews of others who’ve emerged victorious after conquering their difficulties. Each of their stories has a common theme – that the work they did and who they became before the goodies arrived is largely responsible for what they have now. It makes a lot of sense – be the person we need to be, enjoy what we do on the journey and have the results more rapidly.

About the Author:

My wife and I had got to the stage where we knew something HAD to be done about our weight. So we confided in each other about exactly what we wanted and why. We were surprised to realise that our goals were fairly simple. Having more oomph to play with the kids was Katie’s number one goal. Equally, she aspired to feeling good about being un-dressed when we’re intimate together.

Predominantly for me it was about buying stylish off-the-peg clothes again, instead of the dreary ageing ranges available for ‘over size’ people. We have a 3 storey townhouse, and I wanted to run up the stairs without panting by the top floor!

We realised in addition that our self-image has its part to play in how we physically look. Unfortunately, the larger we grow, the less we seem to care for ourselves. It’s very common to see weight reduction as the solution to a happy life. I want you to know how much I understand this thought process. Here are some observations…

Psychologists understand that we have a subconscious mind, which doesn’t recognise the difference between a real thing and an imaginary thing. It therefore ‘programs’ the conscious element of our brain with anything that occupies it. In other words it becomes a reality if it’s repeated often enough!

Consider your own prevailing thoughts – are you ruining your hopes of being slimmer by holding on to an ‘overweight’ self-image? We need to change the messages we send to our sub-conscious into positive ones.

We must always be focused on the prizes of losing weight, not the price. So between us, we came up with a number of things that we knew would be better once we’d lost the weight – We realised we wanted to do things like going for long walks, going to dances, being flirtatious, having great sex, swimming, having more fun, playing with the kids, beach games, cycling, confidence and excitement.

Then we envisioned ourselves in cool summer clothes, looking great as we enjoyed trips to the beach. Everyone approved of our good looks. Oh how things changed!

Subsequently we’re both well on our way to our target weights – not stick thin, but happy! And Katie has a spring in her step (and a twinkle in her eye) that I hadn’t seen in years!

Weight Reduction Is Massive… It’s essential to grasp that the business of slimming is exactly that – a very profitable market. Several billion dollars of diet products are purchased every year.

OK, How Large Has This Got? Maybe you’re not classed as obese, but you’re probably somewhat overweight if you’re reading this. Statistics taken recently suggest that weight issues are a problem for around seventy per cent of Americans. Put another way, that’s 210 millions! And many other countries will shortly have a similar situation. But we don’t want this to happen!

In Great Britain, it’s estimated that one quarter of the adult population is at least 30-40 pounds overweight. But look at this – It might be around twenty five per cent now, but it could be ninety per cent by the middle of the century.

And yet why should it be that way? No-one wants this trend to continue. Sensible dietary advice is the key – not expensive products that line the pockets of big business.

Obesity can increase the risk of a number of diseases and ailments, such as – High Blood Pressure, Liver Disease, High Cholesterol, Osteoarthritis, Sleep Apnoea, Heart Disease and Heart Failure, Cancer, Type Two Diabetes & Problems with Mental Health. And so we’re not just out to look cuter – we’re out to preserve our health.

Fat loss isn’t about getting to size zero – you should be aiming for a weight that’s good for your health. The right weight for one person isn’t necessarily the right one for someone else. We all need to be able to maintain a certain weight when we’ve reached it.

When we have a family, we need to consider how they can learn to eat well. It’s our responsibility as the adults in the house to help our children adopt sensible habits where diet is concerned. The odds are on that our children will grow to be obese if we don’t change things now. Who wants to be that kind of benefactor?

So we have to understand the basics about nutrition – it’s just as important to know what’s good for us as it is to know what’s bad. It’s only when we’ve got a handle on healthy eating ourselves that we can teach it to others. Let’s be honest, our children’s children could escape obesity if we put the right habits into the family today.

In our previous article, we covered the basic theory of SEO and talked about ‘On Page’ factors. In this article, we’re looking at the more crucial Off-Page optimisation. Think of it as appointing votes. A link is placed from one site to another. As though it’s suggesting the site has value.

This link consists of two major parts. The URL of the page being pointed at – Then secondly the keyword phrase. This will be highlighted on the web page. This generates one ‘vote’ for a particular page on a website based on that anchor text phrase. That is, 1 vote for that website to move up the listings for the search phrase (keywords) in question.

This always works like this. The anchor text and page pointed to are irrevocably tied together. You can only proffer a vote for a web page that has anchor text highlighted. Search Engines utilise Anchor Text as an indicator of what the page’s content is. Read that again, because it’s vital… The anchor text determines the search terms your site will be rated for.

Can you see therefore why a ‘Click Here’ link serves no SEO purpose? We’ve done no more than give those two words our vote! Who would choose to search for Click Here? Obviously no-one.

So that explains why Anchor Text takes some thought and consideration. It signifies the keyword phrases that you want to rank for. Interestingly, you’ll see the Adobe Reader download site in pole position for ‘click here’. Did they SEO that term? Categorically No! But so many sites have a ‘Click HERE to download Adobe Reader’ link on them, that they’re number one for that phrase.

So to count a ‘vote’ for a web page, the Search Engines always go to the anchor text. It is the logical thing to do. The SE’s process tries to follow the logic of a human being. It even won’t matter what the rest of the page talks about in some ways. If all the anchor text phrases that point to you say ‘yellow balloons’, then that’s what you’ll rank for! That’s irrefutable!

Of course, it’s not quite as simple as that… Because the SE’s also use the page title and wording of the page being pointed at to correlate the results. Along with a host of other things as well. (To give you an idea, the spread of the sites linking to yours, and their relevancy to your site).

However, let’s be quite clear – the most important thing by far for SEO is a stuff-load of back links! And they must come from a great diversity of sites, and have properly phrased anchor texts. How much ‘clout’ a donor site has is very relevant also – There is much more value in a back-link from a highly rated site than from one with no rating at all.

Take time to make sure you have the appropriate keywords in place. Do perform sufficient competitor and keyword research before you firm up on your strategy. But the bottom line is this: What would a customer of yours type in the search box in order to find your product or service? Crack that one, and you’ve got your correct anchor text and phrases.

Getting it right though takes a lot of measuring, testing and research. It’s so often the case that the phrase people expect is NOT what produces the most results. Different people view what they’re looking for in various ways. If you’re desperate for better quality sleep, the words ‘comfortable mattress’ might come into your mind. Whilst the line GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP could be used by someone else.

You just can’t trust your ‘gut feel’! It can’t be over-estimated how important it is to investigate, measure and test all the phrases to be used. The number of people visiting your site will be in direct proportion to the work you do in this area. It’s just like having an ad in a telephone Directory. If you’re a Plumber and you’re listed under Stationary Providers, you won’t get much business! It is just as crucial to get your keyword analysis correct. Then everyone who’s looking for what you do will easily find you.

Our BMI, or Body Mass Index is an indication of whether we are overweight or not. Our weight is thought to be right for our height if our reading is under twenty five and over eighteen. We have weight management problems if our figure is any higher than that. A BMI of more than 30 is considered obese. It becomes morbidly obese when the index goes over 40.

Calculate your personal body mass index with the following sum – Use a metric rule to measure your height. Then record your weight in kilograms. Your index is your height squared, divided by your weight.

For instance – say you’re 1.55 metres tall and you weigh 78 kilos, your index would be 32.5. The above illustration plainly shows that with those stats you would be designated obese.

Unless we restrict highly calorific food to high days and holidays, the weight will stay put! We can lower our fat reserves (and therefore our weight) if we trim down our portion sizes and stick to more natural foodstuffs.

However, it’s not advisable to go full out on the latest fad or crash diet that is likely to simply depress you. Any slimming regime that only allows one and a half thousand calories a day is considered a crash diet. Such ‘instant remedies’ may produce some results, but it’s likely the weight will flood back on.

Manageable healthy fat loss can’t be done in a couple of weeks. Losing up to two pounds a week can be achieved if you simply cut out five hundred calories or so a day. Not quick-fix, but much more likely to show a result in a year’s time.

Fatty foods tend to give us the biggest problem with weight management. So the easiest way to drop the calories is by cutting out fatty food. In its place eat more fresh vegetables and fruit. To fill up, try eating more wholemeal and grain. You’ll soon start to notice the health benefits associated with this change.

Trying to eat fewer meals to preserve calories doesn’t work. (Missed meals usually lead to high-calorie grazing). On the contrary, you should eat several small meals a day to prevent getting too hungry. Leaving yourself constantly hungry makes weight loss less likely. Your body can metabolise more productively when it knows it’s receiving small regular intakes of fuel. This allows it to get rid of excess fat more easily.

Companies are getting fewer results for a higher spend using time-honoured marketing techniques. So we have to look at updating our modus operandi. We all know it’s vital that all commercial organisations are on the web. Yet that in itself isn’t sufficient. Buyers MUST know how to reach you.

Picture a new retail premises opening up shop: It’s cost a packet to get to launch time. The staff are all poised – But the street is deserted, and they discover it’s way out of town. Nobody will know how to reach them. What kind of sales do you think they’ll manage? Almost all the sites on the web have the same problem!

Marketing has undergone a huge change because of the internet. As we left the 20th century, we all thought we had to have a web site. Getting a presence on-line became the be-all and end-all. Companies often spent a fortune on the latest features for their site. Naturally, web designers were very happy. Then it became apparent that no-one was visiting these sites. They’d thought that simply having a site on the web meant customers could see them. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

A traditional approach to marketing breaks down on the web. An expert in old-style marketing would compare your web presence with a catalogue. Therefore, you’ll need to utilise all the normal marketing channels (print, radio, TV, media etc.) to drive traffic to that site. Basically keeping it within their frame of reference. Make the clever looking sales catalogue, and then promote it everywhere so customers want to buy from it. However, this process illustrates an absolute misunderstanding of website marketing.

This approach purely sees the web as a viewing portal, which it isn’t. It’s a hugely dynamic environment with complex interactivity. Users drill down to investigate the services they’re interested in. In addition, terrific site indexes have been created by several major Search Engines (SE’S) so customers can find the things they’re looking for. Think of the chaos involved if the Business Yellow Pages wasn’t in alphabetical order: We’d be forever frustrated and disappointed.

Search Engines have sorted all this. And so marketing is forced to move on. Because now, if you want to be found in the vast sea that is the internet, you have to be indexed in the Search Engines. But there’s a lot more to it than that… #S#

To solve this problem, and bring in a huge chunk of revenue for themselves, SE’s introduced paid advertising. And it has an interesting twist… You only pay when someone actually chooses your advert – hence the name ‘Pay-Per-Click’. It was revolutionary. Essentially, you now only paid for someone who’d already decided they were interested in your service or product. Pay per Click is a very well targeted method of marketing. With the right knowledge it can produce a good return.

But Pay-Per-Click is heavily over-subscribed now in most sectors. Predominantly because of a wealth of new bidders who lack experience, the cost per click has been driven upwards. Now, in 2009, we’re seeing click prices that are so high, it can literally be unfeasible to make a profit. In particular, where a sale requires a large number of clicks. Consequently we’re seeing a renewed interest in SEO. This means websites are optimised in ways that naturally push them up the search pages.

As an exercise: Go to Google or Bing RIGHT NOW and type in a few product or service keywords. Does your site appear in the first 3 pages of results? It’s very doubtful. In other words, you’re no-where to be found. If it is there, would clients really use those keywords?

If you’re familiar with paid advertising on Google, you might be reasonably satisfied. Are you managing your campaign well though? Are you getting the best return on your investment? Do you know what the most successful areas are – with accurate statistics to track and measure the quality of your campaigns? All truly successful Pay Per Click campaigns must be fully monitored and split-tested. Without accurate statistics, you can’t get the best ROI.

Both in Britain and around the world, statistics show that commercial advertising and selling is experiencing a seismic shift towards the internet. It’s no longer an option. Embrace the web economy, and maximise its potential.

Computer training for CompTIA A+ covers 4 different sectors – the requirement is exam passes in just two sectors to be seen as A+ competent. This is why, many training establishments restrict their A+ to just two of the 4 sectors. We consider that this isn’t enough – yes you’ll have qualified, but knowing about the others will set you apart in your working life, where you’ll need to know about all of them. So that’s why you need education in all 4 specialities.

If you decide to become a student on the A+ computer training course you will learn how to build computers and fix them, and work in antistatic conditions. You’ll also cover fault finding and diagnostics, through both hands-on and remote access. If you aspire to looking after computer networks, add the very comprehensive Network+ to your training package. This will put you in a position to apply for more interesting jobs. Also look at the networking qualifications from Microsoft, i.e. MCP, MCSA MCSE.

A question; why should we consider commercial qualifications and not the usual academic qualifications gained through the state educational establishments? Vendor-based training (in industry terminology) is far more effective and specialised. The IT sector has acknowledged that specialisation is essential to service the demands of an acceleratingly technical world. Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe are the key players in this arena. Essentially, only required knowledge is taught. It’s not quite as straightforward as that, but the most important function is always to cover the precise skills needed (including a degree of required background) – without going into too much detail in all sorts of other things – in the way that academic establishments often do.

Just like the advert used to say: ‘It does what it says on the label’. The company just needs to know what areas need to be serviced, and then request applicants with the correct exam numbers. Then they’re assured that a potential employee can do exactly what’s required.

Have you recently questioned how safe your job is? For the majority of us, this issue only becomes a talking point when something dramatic happens to shake us. Unfortunately, the painful truth is that true job security is a thing of the past, for most of us. We could however find security at the market sector level, by searching for high demand areas, coupled with work-skill shortages.

Recently, a UK e-Skills study demonstrated that twenty six percent of computing and IT jobs cannot be filled as an upshot of a lack of appropriately certified professionals. That means for every 4 jobs that are available in the computer industry, there are only 3 trained people to fulfil that role. This disquieting concept underpins an urgent requirement for more commercially trained computer professionals throughout the United Kingdom. Quite simply, retraining in Information Technology over the coming years is very likely the finest career direction you could choose.

Charging for exam fees with the course fee then including an exam guarantee is popular with many training course providers. However, let’s consider what’s really going on:

It’s very clear we’re still footing the bill for it – it’s quite obvious to see that it’s already been included in the gross price invoiced by the college. Certainly, it’s not a freebie – and it’s insulting that we’re supposed to think it is! It’s everybody’s ambition to qualify on the first attempt. Entering examinations when it’s appropriate and funding them as you go has a marked effect on pass-rates – you take it seriously and are mindful of the investment you’ve made.

Don’t you think it’s more sensible to hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you’re ready, instead of paying a premium to a training company, and to do it locally – rather than in some remote centre? A lot of questionable training course providers net huge profits through getting in the money for examinations upfront then banking on the fact that many won’t be taken. Most companies will require you to do mock exams and hold you back from re-takes until you have proved to them you have a good chance of passing – so an ‘Exam Guarantee’ comes with many clauses in reality.

With average Prometric and VUE exams in the United Kingdom costing around 112 pounds, by far the best option is to pay for them as you take them. Why splash out often many hundreds of pounds extra at the beginning of your training? A commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools are actually the key to your success.

Being a part of the leading edge of new technology is as thrilling as it comes. You become one of a team of people impacting progress around the world. Computer technology and communication on the internet will noticeably shape our lifestyles over the coming years; to a vast degree.

Let’s not ignore salaries either – the income on average across the UK for a typical IT professional is significantly higher than average salaries nationally. It’s likely that you’ll receive a much greater package than you’d expect to earn doing other work. With the IT marketplace growing at an unprecedented rate, it’s predictable that demand for appropriately qualified IT professionals will continue actively for the significant future.

Make sure you don’t get caught-up, as a lot of students can, on the training process. You’re not training for the sake of training; you’re training to become commercially employable. Focus on the end-goal. Don’t be part of the group who set off on a track that sounds really ‘interesting’ and ‘fun’ – and get to the final hurdle of an accreditation for a job they hate.

Take time to understand your leanings around earning potential and career progression, plus your level of ambition. You need to know what (if any) sacrifices you’ll need to make for a particular role, what exams they want you to have and in what way you can develop commercial experience. It’s worth seeking help from someone who can explain the industry you think may suit you, and is able to give you ‘A day in the life of’ outline for each job considered. This really is incredibly important because you obviously have to know if you’re barking up the wrong tree.

Reducing the stress that so many of us suffer from in modern life, along with increasing the amount of rest that we take, might well help us to lose weight as well. Lots of us are vulnerable to stress. We take on far too many things and end up ‘chasing our tail’ every day. The tension rises as we bounce from one challenge to the next! And so we turn to eating, to counteract the pressure.

But now it seems there’s a scientific reason why we reach for the most fattening foods at times high stress and exhaustion. Take a look at the following explanation of how tension can relate to putting on weight – If we undergo an extended period of stress, our bodies will secrete cortisol – a stress hormone.

As a result, this stimulates the release of insulin in an effort to make our blood-sugar level stable. This in turn leads to a desire to eat more food high in fat and carbohydrate. And so we give in to our cravings, and our energy picks up again.

Our stress levels stabilise and we feel more at one. But very soon afterwards, our energy boost plummets! To explain – the glucose now in our bloodstream is captured by the insulin and transferred to the fat deposits around our body.

Thus if weight loss is your objective, first try to create a more harmonious lifestyle! Alongside this concept, think about how much sleep you’re getting. There was a time when the average person slept eight hours a night. This is no longer the case, with seven being optimistic for many today.

The levels of obesity in our society have risen considerably over the same period. It’s believed that our appetite hormones rise when we’re deprived of sleep. As we have more waking hours, we become programmed to think we need to spend more time eating.

Patently we have a more urgent need for energy as we become drained, so yet again we desire saturated fats and carbs. Our desire for these unhealthy foodstuffs could perhaps be reduced if we allocated an additional hour to bedtime.

And so to our conclusion. If we aim to reduce the tension in our lives, we might just find it easier to reduce our weight as well. Try saying ‘No’ sometimes to other people’s requests. Then take a little time to reflect as day turns into evening, have a nice warm shower and lie down to rest and enjoy the recuperation.

Nice One! As you’re looking at this we guess you must be considering retraining for a new career – that means you’ve already taken one more step than the majority. Less of us than you’d think are happy and fulfilled in our work, but it’s rare anyone does more than moan. You could join a select group who make a difference in their lives.

When considering retraining, it’s vital that you have in mind what you want and don’t want from the job you’re hoping to qualify for. Ensure that things would be a lot better before you spend time and effort taking a new turn. We recommend looking at the big picture first, to make an informed decision:

* Do you want to interact with other people? If so, do you like working with the same people or do you want to meet lots of new people? Maybe you’d rather be left alone to get on with things?

* Which criteria’s are fundamental with regard to the industry you’ll be employed in?

* Is this the final time you envisage re-training, and if it is, do you believe this career choice will service that need?

* Do you think being qualified will allow you to find new work easily, and stay employable until sixty five?

We would advise you to have a good look at the IT sector – there are increasingly more jobs than people to do them, and it’s a rare career choice where the sector is growing. Despite what some people would have you think, it isn’t a bunch of techie geeks staring at their computers the whole time (though naturally some jobs are like that.) Most positions are filled by people like you and me who like receiving larger than average salaries.

Looking around, we find an excess of employment in computing. Arriving at the correct choice in this uncertainty is a mammoth decision. Because with no commercial skills in computing, how should we possibly be expected to understand what a particular job actually consists of? Often, the key to unlocking this issue properly comes from a full talk over a variety of topics:

* Personality factors plus what interests you – the sort of work-oriented areas you like and dislike.

* Are you aiming to reach a key goal – for instance, working from home in the near future?

* Where do you stand on salary vs the travel required?

* Learning what typical job areas and sectors are – plus how they’re different to each other.

* The level of commitment and effort you’ll commit getting qualified.

To bypass the barrage of jargon, and find what’ll really work for you, have an informal chat with an experienced professional; someone that appreciates and can explain the commercial realities while explaining each accreditation.

A sneaky way that colleges make more money is by adding exam fees upfront to the cost of a course and presenting it as a guarantee for your exams. It looks impressive, but is it really:

Of course it isn’t free – you’re still footing the bill for it – the price has simply been included in the whole thing. People who take each progressive exam, funding them as they go are much better placed to get through first time. They’re mindful of what they’ve paid and take the necessary steps to make sure they’re ready.

Take your exams as locally as possible and don’t pay up-front, but seek out the best deal for you when you’re ready. A lot of questionable training companies make a great deal of profit by getting in the money for examinations upfront and hoping that you won’t take them all. Re-takes of previously unsuccessful exams via organisations who offer an ‘Exam Guarantee’ are monitored with tight restrictions. They’ll insist that you take mock exams first till you’ve proven conclusively that you can pass.

Exams taken at VUE and Prometric centres are around 112 pounds in Great Britain. What’s the point of paying huge fees for ‘exam guarantees’ (usually wrapped up in the course package price) – when a quality course, support and study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams is what will really guarantee success.

Commercial qualifications are now, very visibly, taking over from the more academic tracks into the industry – but why has this come about? Key company training (as it’s known in the industry) is most often much more specialised. The IT sector has acknowledged that a specialist skill-set is what’s needed to service the demands of a technologically complex marketplace. Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe are the dominant players. In a nutshell, the learning just focuses on what’s actually required. Actually, it’s not quite as pared down as that, but the most important function is always to concentrate on the fundamentally important skill-sets (alongside some required background) – without trying to cram in all sorts of other things (as universities often do).

The bottom line is: Accredited IT qualifications let employers know exactly what you’re capable of – everything they need to know is in the title: as an example – I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Windows XP Administration and Configuration’. Therefore an employer can look at the particular needs they have and which qualifications will be suitable to deal with those needs.

Often, trainers provide a shelf full of reference manuals. Obviously, this isn’t much fun and isn’t the best way to go about studying effectively. Research over recent years has always shown that an ‘involved’ approach to study, where we utilise all our senses, will more likely produce memories that are deeper and longer-lasting.

Fully interactive motion videos with demonstrations and practice sessions will beat books every time. And they’re a lot more fun to do. It would be silly not to view some of the typical study materials provided before you purchase a course. What you want are instructor demonstrations, video tutorials and interactive audio-visual sections with practice modules.

Plump for physical media such as CD or DVD ROM’s in all circumstances. You can then avoid all the difficulties of broadband outages, failure and signal quality issues etc.

Get rid of any salesman who pushes one particular program without performing a ‘fact-find’ to assess your abilities as well as experience level. Always check they have access to a large range of products so they can solve your training issues. It’s worth remembering, if you have some relevant previous certification, then it’s not unreasonable to expect to commence studying further along than someone who is new to the field. Opening with a basic PC skills course first may be the ideal way to commence your computer programme, but really depends on your level of familiarity with computers.

We all have busy lives, and usually if we want to advance our future prospects, studying at the same time as holding down a job is what we’re faced with. Microsoft authorised training can be the way to do it. You might like to have a chat about jobs with a person who’s got industry experience – and should you be confused, then have some guidance on whereabouts in industry would be best, based on your likes and dislikes and your character. Having selected your career path, you’ll need a suitable training program matched to your needs. Your course material should more than match your expectations.

It’s usual for students to get confused with a single training area which is often not even considered: The way the training is divided into chunks and packaged off through the post. Many think it logical (when study may take one to three years for a full commercial certification,) that a training provider will issue the courseware in stages, until you’ve passed all the exams. Although: What would their reaction be if you find it difficult to do all the exams at the speed they required? Often the staged order won’t be as easy as some other structure would for you.

To be straight, the best solution is to get an idea of what they recommend as an ideal study order, but get all the study materials at the start. It’s then all yours if you don’t manage to finish at their required pace.

The sometimes daunting task of getting your first job can be made easier by some companies, via a Job Placement Assistance programme. Having said that, occasionally this feature is bigged up too much, for it is genuinely quite straightforward for a well trained and motivated person to secure a job in the IT industry – because companies everywhere are seeking trained staff.

Having said that, it’s important to have advice and support about your CV and interviews though; also we would encourage everybody to work on polishing up their CV right at the beginning of their training – don’t procrastinate and leave it until you’ve graduated or passed any exams. A good number of junior support jobs are offered to people who are still studying and haven’t even passed a single exam yet. This will at the very least get your CV into the ‘possible’ pile and not the ‘no’ pile. The top companies to help you find a job are generally independent and specialised local recruitment services. Because they get paid commission to place you, they have the necessary incentive to try that bit harder.

A slight frustration for various training providers is how hard men and women are prepared to study to get qualified, but how un-prepared they are to work on getting the job they’ve acquired skills for. Get out there and hustle – you might find it’s fun.

Commercial certification is now, without a doubt, taking over from the traditional routes into the IT industry – but why is this happening? The IT sector is of the opinion that to learn the appropriate commercial skills, official accreditation from the likes of Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA often is more effective in the commercial field – saving time and money. Obviously, an appropriate quantity of relevant additional information must be learned, but core specialisation in the particular job function gives a commercially educated person a distinct advantage.

The crux of the matter is this: Commercial IT certifications provide exactly what an employer needs – it says what you do in the title: for example, I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Windows XP Administration and Configuration’. Therefore employers can look at their needs and what certifications will be suitable to deal with those needs.

Remember: a course itself or the accreditation isn’t the end-goal; the job or career that you’re getting the training for is. Many trainers unfortunately put too much weight in just the training course. It’s not unheard of, for instance, to find immense satisfaction in a year of study only to end up putting 20 long years into something completely unrewarding, as a consequence of not performing some quality research when you should’ve – at the outset.

You’ll want to understand what industry will expect from you. Which precise qualifications they will want you to have and how to gain experience. It’s also worth spending time assessing how far you think you’ll want to build your skill-set as often it can present a very specific set of qualifications. Sense dictates that you always seek guidance and advice from a professional advisor before making your final decision on some particular learning path, so there’s little doubt that a program provides the skill-set required for your career choice.

Incorporating examinations as an inclusive element of the package price then giving it ‘Exam Guarantee’ status is common for a good many training companies. But let’s examine why they really do it:

Patently it isn’t free – you’re still coughing up for it – it’s just been included in your package price. Evidence shows that when trainees fund their own exams, one at a time, the chances are they’re going to get through on the first attempt – since they’re aware of the cost and therefore will put more effort into their preparation.

Hold on to your money and pay for the exam when you take the exam, and avoid college mark-up fees. You’ll then be able to select where you take your exam – which means you can stay local. Huge profits are made by many companies that get money for exam fees in advance. For various reasons, many students don’t take their exams and so they pocket the rest. Surprising as it sounds, there are training companies that depend on students not taking their exams – and that’s how they increase their profits. The majority of companies will insist that you take mock exams first and not allow you to re-take an exam until you’ve demonstrated an excellent ability to pass – which makes an ‘Exam Guarantee’ frankly useless.

Exams taken at local centres are approximately 112 pounds in this country. Why pay exorbitant ‘Exam Guarantee’ costs (most often hidden in the package) – when good quality study materials, the proper support and a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools are actually the key to your success.

Should you be aspiring to become Cisco accredited, but you’ve not yet worked with network switches or routers, you should first attempt the CCNA training. This educates you in knowledge and skills to work with routers. Vast numbers of routers make up the internet, and large commercial ventures with several different sites also rely on them to allow their networks of computers to communicate.

The sort of jobs available with this qualification mean you’ll be more likely to work for big organisations that are spread out geographically but still want internal communication. The other possibility is joining an internet service provider. Either way, you’ll be in demand and can expect a high salary.

Achieving CCNA is where you should be aiming; at this stage avoid being tempted to do the CCNP. Once you’ve worked for a few years, you’ll find out if it’s relevant for you to have this next level up. If you decide to become more qualified, your experience will serve as the background you need to master your CCNP – which is quite a hard qualification to acquire – and ought not to be underestimated.

It’s so important to understand this key point: It’s essential to obtain proper 24×7 round-the-clock instructor support. Later, you’ll kick yourself if you don’t adhere to this. Beware of institutions who use call-centres ‘out-of-hours’ – where you’ll get called back during office hours. This is no use if you’re stuck and need an answer now.

We recommend that you search for colleges that utilise many support facilities active in different time-zones. Every one of them needs to be seamlessly combined to provide a single interface together with 24×7 access, when you need it, with no hassle. Unless you insist on online 24×7 support, you’ll quickly find yourself regretting it. You may avoid using the support in the middle of the night, but you’re bound to use weekends, early mornings or late evenings.

Wouldn’t it be great to know for sure that our jobs will remain secure and our future is protected, however, the truth for most jobs in the United Kingdom today seems to be that security may be a thing of the past. We’re able though to find market-level security, by looking for high demand areas, together with a shortage of skilled staff.

The IT skills deficit in the United Kingdom falls in at approx twenty six percent, as shown by the latest e-Skills study. Meaning that for every four jobs that are available across Information Technology (IT), there are barely three qualified workers to perform that task. This single reality in itself underpins why the United Kingdom requires many more new trainees to enter the Information Technology market. Quite simply, seeking in-depth commercial IT training over the years to come is most likely the greatest career move you’ll ever make.

It’s essential to have authorised exam simulation and preparation programs included in the package you choose. Confirm that the practice exams haven’t just got questions from the right areas, but are also posing them in the same way that the proper exam will formulate them. It completely unsettles trainees if the phraseology and format is completely different. For many reasons, it’s essential to ensure that you are completely prepared for your actual certification exam before taking it. Rehearsing mock-up exams will help to boost your attitude and saves you time and money on failed exams.

Each programme of learning must provide a fully recognised major accreditation as an end-result – and not a worthless ‘in-house’ diploma – fit only for filing away and forgetting. You’ll find that only recognised qualifications from companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Cisco and CompTIA will mean anything to employers.

Potential trainees hoping to start a career in IT normally haven’t a clue which direction to follow, or even what area to get qualified in. As having no solid background in IT, in what way could we be expected to know what someone in a particular job does? The key to answering this question properly lies in a thorough chat, covering a variety of topics:

* What nature of person you think yourself to be – what kind of jobs you get enjoyment from, and don’t forget – what don’t you like doing.

* What is the time-frame for retraining?

* How highly do you rate salary – is an increase your main motivator, or do you place job satisfaction a lot higher on your list of priorities?

* There are many areas to train for in the IT industry – it’s wise to achieve some background information on what differentiates them.

* Taking a good look at what commitment and time that you’re going to put into it.

The best way to avoid the industry jargon, and reveal the best path to success, have a good talk with an industry expert and advisor; an individual that understands the commercial reality while explaining each qualification.

When you decide to change something in your life, setting goals and making a plan is vital. Planning for a successful outcome is the basic requirement of any endeavour. Nobody realises their ambitions without commitment to a strategy.

Look at the target weight you want to hit, and set milestone goals along the way. Those goals are what will help to keep you focused when the going gets tough. To help you get started, use the acronym Smart to qualify the goals you plan to achieve. Smart stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and targeted.

Make a personal contract based on the following 5 D’s to immerse yourself in the positive outcome of your weight management. This contract should be written down, and signed.

Commitment or Dedication: Set aside ‘official’ working-out times to help you commit to them. This prevents you from thinking about other things that you could be doing.

It helps to establish a routine, which in turn helps you to remain committed. Friends won’t expect you to get involved in different activities when your diary shows an exercise period if you’ve been consistently sticking to your routine. You’ll exercise all the better for it.

The purpose of a contract is to have written evidence of your Determination. It helps having a physical document that is there for all to see. Having your goals formally laid out gives you the Discipline to work at them efficiently. It’s also much easier to stay on course with good discipline.

The text is your working document and should be read every day for at least one month so you buy into it and it becomes your new way of life. Write down your goals in a specific and realistic manner, then work diligently and consistently to achieve them. Your successful weight loss regime will depend on it.

Companies are finding it increasingly expensive to market their products off-line. Therefore we must address this issue. It’s commonly understood that all businesses need to be online. But that’s not the answer to the problem. Purchasers won’t necessarily be able to find you.

Web marketing needs a whole new approach. Off-line marketing people would suggest your website is like a sales brochure. As a result, they’ll try to get you to promote the site on radio, TV or in the press. Essentially they’re working in the same way as they’ve always done. First they make a nice looking catalogue. Then they utilise various marketing methods to get people to look at the catalogue. This view is completely and utterly flawed in the internet economy.

The SE’s have got it all sussed. However, this means marketing is no longer the same. Now, if you wish to be visible online, you must be indexed by Google, Bing and/or Yahoo etc. Even that isn’t enough though. You might as well forget it if you’re several pages in!

Today however, most search terms are overwhelmed with pay per click adverts. New online marketers have forced up the price per click, largely through over-the-top bidding. So it’s often the case now that many are priced out of the market. This happens mostly where lots of clicks are essential to get one buyer. This has brought Search Engine Optimisation to the fore, where driving a site to page one is the goal.

Do this small task – Get onto one of the Search Engines now and look for some keywords that you think apply to you. Can you see your website on the 1st three pages? It’s unlikely. So you’re in the same position as the backstreet shop! And if your site is listed, is it appearing for keywords that your customers will actually enter?

Maybe you’ve already tried some Pay Per Click advertising so you appear in the paid listings, and maybe you’ve achieved some success so far. Can you be sure you’re working it as efficiently as possible? Is your ROI satisfactory? Are you aware of how to assess the quality and viability of each campaign? With PPC, testing and diagnostics are critical. You’ll never get the best results without correct figures.

Both in Britain and around the world, statistics show that commercial advertising and selling is experiencing a seismic shift towards the internet. It’s no longer an option. Embrace the web economy, and maximise its potential.

As you’ve arrived here it’s probable that either you want to get into networking and the MCSE has reared its head, or you’re already a professional and you’re aware that your career is blocked until your get the Microsoft qualification.

Always make sure you prove conclusively that your provider is definitely teaching with the latest level of Microsoft development. A number of trainees become very demoralised when they find that they’ve been studying for an out-of-date syllabus which will have to be revised. Steer clear of providers who are just trying to sell you something. Ask for comprehensive, personal guidance to be sure you’re on the best program for your needs. Don’t be shoe-horned into some generic product by an over-keen salesman.

The way a programme is physically sent to you isn’t always given the appropriate level of importance. How is the courseware broken down? What is the order and what control do you have at what pace it arrives? Delivery by courier of each element stage by stage, according to your own speed is how things will normally arrive. This sounds logical, but you must understand the following: What if there are reasons why you can’t finish every section? What if you don’t find their order of learning is ideal for you? Without any fault on your part, you mightn’t complete everything fast enough and therefore not end up with all the modules.

In a perfect world, you’d get ALL the training materials right at the beginning – giving you them all to come back to in the future – at any time you choose. Variations can then be made to the order that you attack each section if you find another route more intuitive.

Potential Students hoping to kick off a career in IT normally haven’t a clue which route to consider, or which sector to get certified in. Therefore, if you don’t have any know-how of the IT sector, how are you equipped to know what any qualified IT worker does each day? And of course decide on which training route would be most appropriate for you to get there. To get through to the essence of this, there should be a discussion of a number of unique issues:

* The sort of individual you are – the tasks that you get enjoyment from, and don’t forget – what don’t you like doing.

* Is your focus to re-train due to a precise motive – for instance, are you pushing to work based from home (maybe self-employment?)?

* Is your income higher on your priority-scale than some other areas.

* Learning what the main career areas and markets are – and what makes them different.

* Having a good look at how much time and effort you can give.

In all honesty, your only option to gain help on these matters tends to be through a good talk with a professional who has years of experience in computing (and specifically the commercial needs.)

A top of the range training program should have wholly authorised simulation materials and exam preparation packages. Make sure that your practice exams aren’t just asking you the right questions on the right subjects, but also asking them in the same way that the proper exam will phrase them. This throws people if the questions are phrased in unfamiliar formats. Mock exams are very useful in helping you build your confidence – so that when you come to take the real deal, you don’t get uptight.

There are colossal changes about to hit technology over the next generation – and it only gets more exciting every day. Computer technology and dialogue through the internet will radically shape the direction of our lives over the coming years; overwhelmingly so.

And it’s worth remembering that on average, the income of a person in the world of IT throughout this country is a lot more than remuneration packages in other industries, which means you’ll probably receive considerably more once qualified in IT, than you’d expect to earn elsewhere. Demand for well trained and qualified IT technicians is certain for many years to come, due to the substantial increase in this sector and the vast deficiency that we still have.

Any advisor who doesn’t dig around with lots of question – it’s likely they’re really a salesperson. If someone pushes specific products before understanding your background and current experience level, then it’s very likely to be the case. With a little commercial experience or base qualifications, it may be that your starting point of study is now at a different level to a new student. Always consider starting with some basic PC skills training first. This can often make your learning curve a a little easier.

What are the sort of things you’d expect the most superior Microsoft accredited suppliers to give a student in this country currently? Patently, the most supreme Gold Partner Microsoft accredited programs, supplying a selection of courses to take you towards various areas of industry. Maybe you’d choose to look for a person who’s got industry experience, who could offer counsel on which job role would be right for you, and the kind of tasks that are a good match for someone with your abilities and personal preferences. When you’ve chosen the area you want to get into, you’ll need a relevant course tailored to go with your skills and abilities. The quality of training should leave no room for complaints.

Be watchful that any certifications you’re working towards will be recognised by employers and are current. Training companies own certificates are often meaningless. All the major commercial players like Microsoft, CompTIA, Adobe or Cisco each have nationally acknowledged skills programmes. These big-hitters will give some sparkle to your CV.

Training support for students is an absolute must – locate a good company that includes 24×7 access, as anything less will frustrate you and could hold up your pace and restrict your intake. Beware of institutions which use messaging services ‘out-of-hours’ – with the call-back coming in during office hours. This is no use if you’re stuck and need an answer now.

Keep looking and you’ll come across professional training packages that offer online direct access support all the time – at any time of day or night. Find a trainer that cares. Because only round-the-clock 24×7 support provides the necessary backup.

So, why is it better to gain commercially accredited qualifications instead of traditional academic qualifications obtained from schools and Further Education colleges? Vendor-based training (in industry terminology) is more effective in the commercial field. The IT sector is aware that such specialised knowledge is what’s needed to handle an increasingly more technical marketplace. Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe are the dominant players. In essence, only that which is required is learned. It isn’t quite as lean as that might sound, but the most important function is always to master the precisely demanded skill-sets (including a degree of required background) – without trying to cram in every other area (as universities often do).

The crux of the matter is this: Recognised IT certifications give employers exactly what they’re looking for – it says what you do in the title: as an example – I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Windows XP Administration and Configuration’. So employers can look at their needs and what certifications are needed for the job.

A valuable training package should incorporate Microsoft (or key company) simulation materials and exam preparation packages. Students regularly can get thrown by practising exam questions that aren’t recognised by the authorised examining boards. Quite often, the terminology in the real exams can be completely unlike un-authorised versions and it’s vital that you know this. A way to build self-confidence is if you verify your depth of understanding through tests and mock ups of exams to get you ready for the real deal.

The way a programme is physically sent to you can often be overlooked. How many parts is the training broken down into? What is the order and do you have a say in when you’ll get each part? You may think that it makes sense (with most training taking 1-3 years to achieve full certification,) for many training providers to send out the courseware in stages, as you complete each part. But: How would they react if you didn’t complete each section at the speed they required? Often the prescribed exam order doesn’t come as naturally as an alternative path could be.

For future safety and flexibility, many trainees now want to insist that all study materials are posted to them in one go, with nothing held back. It’s then your own choice in what order and how fast or slow you’d like to take your exams.

On-Page SEO factors have been dealt with in a previous editorial. But the crux of SEO is off page. Imagine it as a ‘voting’ system. Site A gives a link (vote) to site B. They’re suggesting the site is worth looking at.

The link has a couple of key features. The web address (in other words the actual URL) of the targeted page. And secondly the keyword phrase (anchor text) that’s high-lighted on the page to be clicked on. The particular page with that anchor text then receives one vote. To clarify, that’s a check in the box saying raise this site up the organic Search Engine lists for the phrase embedded in the link.

This is the way it works. The anchor text and page pointed to are irrevocably tied together. You can only proffer a vote for a web page that has anchor text highlighted. The listings would be chaotic without anchor texts. SE’s wouldn’t know what terms to list sites under without them. It’s ESSENTIAL to understand this – Your site will only come up in searches it has anchor texts for.

For this reason, a highlighted link with ‘CLICK here to read more’ would serve no SEO purpose – can you see why? ‘Click Here’ becomes the keyword phrase we’ve created a vote for. Who would choose to search for Click Here? Clearly no-one would!

That’s the reason the anchor text must be right. Since it stands for all the terms you want to be searched for. Interestingly, you’ll see the Adobe Reader download site in pole position for ‘click here’. Do Adobe think ‘CLICK HERE’ is an important term? Heck No! But they’re up at the top because the phrase “CLICK HERE to Download Adobe reader” features on so many websites.

To summarise, Search Engines cast a vote for a page via the anchor text phrase. It is the logical thing to do. The process attempts to use human logic for looking and searching. In fact, the actual subject matter of your page could be quite different. As long as the anchor texts that are directed at you say ‘red cars’ – that is what you will rank for. It’s undeniable!

Of course, it’s not quite as simple as that… The wording on a page being pointed at and its title are taken into account by the Search Engines. And a wealth of other details also. Just as an example – they’ll look at the spread and relevancy of the ‘voting’ sites.

The bottom line is – to SEO successfully takes a ton of back-links. If these back links come from a variety of sites and have well phrased anchor texts, then so much the better. A site’s quality is taken into account as well: There is much more value in a back-link from a highly rated site than from one with no rating at all.

There’s quite an art to choosing the right keyword phrases. Make sure you do sufficient research – it’s not a case of guesswork! The key really though is – Which words do potential clients ‘Google’ when they’re searching for the things you supply? Because that’s exactly what your keywords and anchor text should be.

But these keywords can’t be just randomly chosen without thought, investigation and testing. The best results can sometimes be quite surprising. So many different phrases come to mind when we think of what to search for. Imagine you’re intent on sleeping better. You might think to search for ‘comfortable bed’. Whereas another person may type in “I can’t sleep”.

Successful on-line marketing is about more than trusting vague hunches. It can’t be over-estimated how important it is to investigate, measure and test all the phrases to be used. They are absolutely key to the volume of enquiries and sales you can make via the web. Think of a listing you may have in a regional telephone directory. You’re not going to get any enquiries for Car Repairs if you’re indexed as a Hairdresser! Successful SEO is the result of meticulous analysis of keyword research.

To clarify, that’s a check in the box saying raise this site up the organic Search Engine lists for the phrase embedded in the link.

It is always so. The keyword phrase and targeted page are completely tied to each other. Or the process can’t happen. The SE’s know what search term to use for that page based on the anchor text. This is vital to understand: The search terms you will be listed for are completely determined by your anchor texts.

Thus you’ll understand why highlighting ‘Click Here…’ creates no value in SEO terms. The phrase ‘CLICK Here’ is what we’ve voted for! Who thinks of typing in ‘CLICK HERE’ when they’re doing a search? There isn’t anybody.

That’s why it’s so necessary to use the right anchor text. For it represents all the phrases your site will be listed for. And by the way, if you DO Google “Click Here” you will always find the Adobe Reader download site at the top. Is that because it describes their site? Of course not! It’s simply that ‘click here’ features on so many sites to download Adobe Reader.

So the Search Engines draw on the anchor text ‘phrase’. It’s quite sensible really. Search Engines seek to replicate how an actual person would look for something. But in many ways your actual page content is irrelevant. For if the text that is pointing to your site says Blue Flowers, then that is what you will be listed for! That’s irrefutable!

Naturally, there’s more to it than that… Such as the title of the webpage being pointed at. As well as a variety of other things. For example; how spread-out and relevant the sites are that are linking to you.

The crux of it all is though that a mass of back links solves all the problems! And these need to be from as many different sites as possible – with the correct phrases used as anchor text. The ‘authority’ of a site also plays a major part: Receiving a link from a top site like Microsoft is much more valuable than one from a start-up site.

Selecting the right keywords to build ratings for is quite technical. Always perform keyword research, and check out what the competition are using. But this is the crux of the thing… When someone is looking for your product, what words do they use for their search? Find the answer to that, and you’ve got your keywords.

Interesting answers often come up when you do your researches and tests. As a matter of fact, the phrases are very often not at all what you’d expect. Human beings are odd creatures and we all have our own ideas of how to find what we want. You may think to Google “quality mattresses” if you’re hoping to sleep better. While someone else might automatically think to say ‘I need more sleep’.

Would you really want to trust your marketing to vague ideas and feelings about what might be typed in? DO NOT under-estimate the value that well-phrased keywords can carry. The amount of traffic you’ll receive is intrinsically linked to this. A comparison could be made with a Business Yellow Pages entry. If you’ve been entered as a Florist, but you’re actually an electrician, you’re not going to get anywhere. Similarly, for effective and profitable optimisation on-line, you must perform thorough keyword research and analysis.

The CCNA qualification is where it all starts for training in Cisco. This will enable you to work on maintaining and installing routers and network switches. Fundamentally, the internet is based upon huge numbers of routers, and many large organisations that have different locations use them to keep their networks in touch.

Gaining this type of qualification will most likely see you working for national or international corporations that have a wide geographical spread, but need to keep in touch. On the other hand, you might end up joining internet service providers. This specialised skill set is highly paid.

The correct skill set and comprehension prior to starting the CCNA is essential. So find an advisor who can fill you in on any gaps you may have.

Locating job security these days is very rare. Companies often throw us out of the workplace with very little notice – as long as it fits their needs. When we come across rising skills deficits and areas of high demand however, we can hit upon a new kind of market-security; where, fuelled by the conditions of constant growth, businesses struggle to find the number of people required.

The Information Technology (IT) skills-gap around the United Kingdom is standing at roughly 26 percent, as shown by a recent e-Skills analysis. To explain it in a different way, this means that Great Britain can only locate three properly accredited workers for every 4 jobs available currently. Attaining proper commercial computer certification is as a result an effective route to realise a long-lasting as well as pleasing occupation. Actually, retraining in Information Technology during the years to come is most likely the best career move you’ll ever make.

The sometimes daunting task of securing your first IT job can be relieved by training colleges, through a Job Placement Assistance programme. Because of the growing demand for appropriately skilled people in the United Kingdom even when times are hard, it’s not necessary to make too much of this option though. It’s actually not as hard as some people make out to find employment as long as you’re correctly trained and certified.

Get your CV updated straight-away though (advice can be sought on this via your provider). Don’t put it off till you’ve finished your exams. Various junior support jobs have been bagged by students who’re still on their course and haven’t even passed a single exam yet. This will at least get you on your way. In many cases, an independent and specialised local employment agency (who will, of course, be keen to place you to receive their commission) will be more pro-active than a recruitment division from a training organisation. It also stands to reason that they’ll be familiar with the area and local employers better.

A regular aggravation for a number of training course providers is how hard men and women are prepared to study to pass exams, but how ill-prepared they are to market themselves for the role they have trained for. Don’t falter at the last fence.

We’re often asked why qualifications from colleges and universities are now falling behind more commercially accredited qualifications? With university education costs becoming a tall order for many, together with the IT sector’s recognition that corporate based study often has more relevance in the commercial field, there’s been a big surge in Adobe, Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA based training paths that educate students for much less time and money. Essentially, only required knowledge is taught. It isn’t quite as lean as that might sound, but principally the objective has to be to cover the precise skills needed (including a degree of required background) – without trying to cram in everything else (as universities often do).

The crux of the matter is this: Authorised IT qualifications tell an employer precisely what skills you have – everything they need to know is in the title: as an example – I am a ‘Microsoft Certified Professional’ in ‘Designing Security for a Windows 2003 Network’. Consequently employers can look at their needs and what certifications are needed for the job.

Authorised exam preparation and simulation materials are a must – and absolutely ought to be offered by your training company. Some students can get thrown by trying to prepare themselves with questions that don’t come from official boards. Often, the phraseology is unfamiliar and it’s important to prepare yourself for this. Mock exams are very useful in helping you build your confidence – so when it comes to taking the proper exam, you will be much more relaxed.

Ignore a salesperson that offers any particular course without a thorough investigation to better understand your current abilities plus your level of experience. They should be able to select from a generous range of products so they can give you a program that suits you.. If you have a strong background, or maybe some work-based experience (possibly even some previous certification?) then it’s more than likely your starting level will be very different from someone who is just starting out. Commencing with a basic PC skills program first is often the best way to get up and running on your computer training, but really depends on your level of familiarity with computers.

Many different computer courses are in existence for individuals looking to get into working with computers. To find a good match for you, seek out a training provider with assistance to help you find which job will suit your personality, and then run through the job responsibilities, so you can be sure you’ve found the right one. There’s lots to choose from with these training programs – from basic office skills up to training for programmers, web designers, networkers etc. Take advice prior to committing yourself – speak to someone with knowledge of the market sector. Somebody who you trust to choose the right direction for you – one that’s both commercially relevant and will give you a stimulating career.

By concentrating on service and delivery, there are now companies offering the latest courses with excellent training and guidance for a fraction of the prices asked for by more out-dated organisations.

We’re often asked why qualifications from colleges and universities are being replaced by more commercial certifications? Vendor-based training (as it’s known in the industry) is most often much more specialised. The IT sector has become aware that this level of specialised understanding is vital to meet the requirements of an increasingly more technical marketplace. Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe dominate in this arena. Academic courses, as a example, often get bogged down in a lot of background study – with a syllabus that’s far too wide. This holds a student back from understanding the specific essentials in enough depth.

It’s a bit like the TV advert: ‘It does what it says on the tin’. Companies need only to know what they need doing, and then match up the appropriate exam numbers as a requirement. They’ll know then that all applicants can do what they need.

It only makes sense to consider training programs which will grow into commercially acknowledged exams. There’s an endless list of trainers proposing their own ‘in-house’ certificates that are essentially useless when you start your job-search. Unless the accreditation comes from a conglomerate such as Microsoft, Cisco, Adobe or CompTIA, then chances are it won’t be commercially viable – because it won’t give an employer any directly-useable skills.

It’s so important to understand this key point: You absolutely must have proper 24×7 support from professional instructors. Later, you’ll kick yourself if you let this one slide. Find a good quality service where you can receive help at any time of day or night (no matter if it’s in the middle of the night on a weekend!) Make sure it’s always 24×7 direct access to mentors and instructors, and not access to a call-in service which takes messages – so you’re consistently being held in a queue for a call-back – probably during office hours.

The best training colleges provide a web-based 24×7 system involving many support centres over many time-zones. You will have an easy to use environment which switches seamlessly to the best choice of centres irrespective of the time of day: Support available as-and-when you want it. Unless you insist on 24×7 support, you’ll very quickly realise that you’ve made a mistake. You might not want to use the service during late nights, but you may need weekends, early mornings or late evenings.

It’s not uncommon for companies to offer inclusive exam guarantees – they always involve paying for the exam fees up-front, before you’ve even made a start on the course. However, prior to embracing the chance of a guarantee, be aware of the facts:

Certainly it’s not free – you’re still footing the bill for it – the price has simply been included in the whole thing. If you want to pass in one, you must pay for one exam at a time, give it the necessary attention and give the task sufficient application.

Shouldn’t you be looking to go for the best offer at the appropriate time, rather than coughing up months or even a year or two in advance to the college, and to do it in a local testing office – instead of the remote centre that’s convenient only to the trainer? Buying a course that includes payments for examination fees (which also includes interest if you’ve taken out a loan) is bad financial management. Don’t line companies bank accounts with your hard-earned cash simply to help their cash-flow! A lot bank on the fact that you won’t get to do them all – then they’ll keep the extra money. Also, you should consider what an ‘exam guarantee’ really means. Many training companies will not pay for you to re-take until you can prove to them you’re ready to pass.

On average, exams cost 112 pounds or thereabouts twelve months or so ago via VUE or Pro-metric centres in the UK. So don’t be talked into shelling out hundreds or thousands of pounds more for ‘an Exam Guarantee’, when any student knows that the responsible approach is a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools.

Don’t accept anything less than the latest Microsoft (or Cisco, CompTIA etc.) authorised exam preparation packages. Because a lot of IT examining boards are American, you’ll need to be used to the correct phraseology. It’s no use simply going through the right questions – it’s essential that you can cope with them in the proper exam format. For many reasons, it’s very crucial to ensure that you are completely prepared for your commercial exam prior to going for it. Practicing mock-up exams will help to boost your attitude and saves you time and money on thwarted exam entries.

Weight Loss Can Be Distressing – It’s essential to grasp that the business of slimming is exactly that – a very profitable market. A vast amount of cash is spent on diet related products – and many companies are in a position to dupe would-be slimmers into buying their goods.

So How Extensive Is Obesity? It’s quite likely that you’re hoping to drop at least a few pounds, even if your problem isn’t extreme. Amazingly, over two-thirds of the US populace are classed as needing weight loss. Put another way, that’s 210 millions!

Other countries are catching up fast too… It’s a sorry state of affairs.

It’s been revealed that in Britain today, a quarter of all adults are a minimum of 33lbs too heavy (and are therefore classed as obese.) But what’s worse – The 2009 figure could escalate to nine tenths by mid-century.

We have to take corrective action now. We must do something about it! Nevertheless, weight management doesn’t have to be about spending a fortune on gimmick food. Healthy dietary information is more relevant.

It is commonly understood in medical circles that weight problems lead to other difficulties, including… Cancer – Heart Disease – Heart Failure – Type Two Diabetes – High Blood Pressure – Liver Disease – High Cholesterol – Osteoarthritis.

So our health is at stake – the weight must come off. Reducing your weight and getting into good physical shape is more important than being thin. In truth, we most likely have a gut feel for the weight that works best for our body.

We need to consider the health of our children too. If we’re being responsible parents, we have to show them with our actions. Nothing will change if we keep doing the same thing. Who wants to be that kind of benefactor?

Computer training for CompTIA A+ covers four specialised areas – you’ll need exam certification in two of these areas to be competent in A+. This is why, the majority of colleges simply provide 2 of the four in the syllabus. Our opinion is this is selling you short – sure, you can pass an exam, but knowing about the others will prepare you more fully for when you’re in the workplace, where you’ll need a more comprehensive understanding. So that’s why you deserve training in everything.

Passing the A+ exam on its own will give you the ability to mend and maintain computers and Macs; ones that are most often not part of a network – essentially the domestic or small business sector. If you would like to be a man or woman who is a member of a large organisation – supporting, fixing and maintaining networks, you’ll need to add CompTIA Network+, or consider an MCSA or MCSE with Microsoft to give you a wider knowledge of how networks work.

Ensure all your accreditations are commercially valid and current – don’t even consider courses which lead to some in-house certificate (which is as useless as if you’d printed it yourself). Only fully recognised qualifications from the likes of Microsoft, Adobe, CompTIA and Cisco will have any meaning to employers.

Usually, trainers will provide mainly work-books and reference manuals. It’s not a very interesting way to learn and isn’t the best way to go about achieving retention. Research has constantly demonstrated that connecting physically with our study, is much more conducive to long-term memory.

You can now study via self-contained CD or DVD materials. Instructor-led tutorials will mean you’ll absorb the modules, one by one, through the expert demonstrations. Then it’s time to test your knowledge by using practice-lab’s. You really need to look at the type of training provided by the company you’re considering. It’s essential they incorporate full motion videos of instructors demonstrating the topic with lab’s to practice the skills in.

It’s folly to opt for on-line only training. Because of the variable quality and reliability of the ISP (internet service provider) market, it makes sense to have physical media such as CD or DVD ROM’s.

Far too many companies are all about the certification, and completely avoid what you actually need – which is a commercial career or job. Always start with where you want to get to – too many people focus on the journey. It’s common, in many cases, to thoroughly enjoy one year of training and then find yourself trapped for decades in a job you hate, entirely because you stumbled into it without the correct research when it was needed – at the start.

It’s well worth a long chat to see the exact expectations industry will have. What certifications you’ll be required to have and how you’ll build your experience level. You should also spend a little time thinking about how far you reckon you’re going to want to go as it may force you to choose a particular set of certifications. As a precursor to beginning a particular learning program, trainees are advised to talk through individual job needs with an experienced industry professional, to make sure the training course covers all the bases.

A key package of training will undoubtedly also include accredited exam simulation and preparation packages. As a lot of IT examining boards tend to be American, you’ll need to be used to the correct phraseology. You can’t practice properly by just going through the right questions – they must be in an exam format that exactly replicates the real thing. Mock exams can be invaluable as a resource to you – so that when you come to take the real thing, you will be much more relaxed.

It’s quite a normal occurrence for students not to check on a painfully important area – how their company actually breaks down and delivers the courseware elements, and into how many bits. Students often think it makes sense (with a typical time scale of 1-3 years to achieve full certification,) for your typical trainer to courier the courseware in stages, as you achieve each exam pass. However: With thought, many trainees understand that the company’s typical path to completion isn’t as suitable as another. Sometimes, it’s more expedient to use an alternative order of study. And what happens if they don’t finish in the allotted time?

To be honest, the very best answer is to have their ideal ‘order’ of training laid out, but get everything up-front. You’re then in possession of everything if you don’t manage to finish at their required pace.

On-Page SEO factors have been dealt with in a previous editorial. But the crux of SEO is off page. Imagine it as a ‘voting’ system. Site A gives a link (vote) to site B. They’re suggesting the site is worth looking at.

The link to your site has two main parts. The full web address of the actual page being pointed to. And second, the ‘anchor text’ or ‘keyword phrase’ that is highlighted on the web-page for you to click. That page can then be seen as receiving one ‘vote’. So, a tick to move the site higher up the listings for that phrase.

It is always so. The keyword phrase and targeted page are completely tied to each other. Or the process can’t happen. The SE’s know what search term to use for that page based on the anchor text. This is vital to understand: The search terms you will be listed for are completely determined by your anchor texts.

Hence, a link saying “click here for…” isn’t a good idea. We’ve simply voted for the words Click Here. Whoever is going to type that phrase into the Search Engine? Obviously no-one.

If you’ve been entered as a Florist, but you’re actually an electrician, you’re not going to get anywhere. Similarly, for effective and profitable optimisation on-line, you must perform thorough keyword research and analysis.

About the Author:

Companies are getting fewer results for a higher spend using time-honoured marketing techniques. So we now need to look carefully at where the commercial market-place is going. It’s commonly understood that all businesses need to be online. But a web presence by itself won’t bring results. Customers HAVE to be able to find you!

Picture a new retail premises opening up shop: Heavy investment has gone into fitting it out and setting everything up. They open for business… Then notice they’re in a backwater – miles from anywhere. Worse still, no thought has gone into promoting where they are. What kind of sales do you think they’ll manage? Nearly all commercial sites on the web are in exactly the same situation.

Promotional work and marketing have entered a new phase with the advent of the internet. There was an idea that everyone should have a website around ten years ago. It wasn’t uncommon for businesses to spend huge amounts getting all the fancy bells and whistles on their site. (A happy situation for web design businesses…) Then it became apparent that no-one was visiting these sites. Surely a big website should attract lots of customers? In fact, this wasn’t the case at all.

Off-line marketing methods are inadequate for website promotion. Traditional marketers would say your site is an advertisement of your products or services. Consequently they’ll recommend the time-honoured promotional methods of newspaper advertising and the media. Sticking to the familiar routine. The great-looking brochure is created, followed up by a wealth of advertising to encourage punters to see the brochure. However, this process illustrates an absolute misunderstanding of website marketing.

This process only utilises the web as viewing gallery, which is quite wrong. It is a completely interactive place where billions of people can research, examine, discuss and choose services and products in the comfort of their own home. We can find the sites we’re looking for because Google, Bing and Yahoo etc. have formulated huge site directories to simplify the task. Think of the chaos involved if the Business Yellow Pages wasn’t in alphabetical order: We’d be forever frustrated and disappointed.

The SE’s have got it all sussed. Which means businesses can no longer use traditional marketing. It’s now essential to be indexed by the major SE’s if you want to be found on the web. But there’s a lot more to it than that… Statistics reveal that almost no-one looks ‘below the fold’ on the 1st page.

So to give all companies a chance to be on the first pages, the Search Engines came up with a new form of paid advertising. It’s called Pay Per Click, and advertisers are only charged when someone ‘clicks’ on their ad. It was revolutionary. Because now you didn’t have to spend anything until an interested person looked at your web page. This is an incredibly targeted way of advertising, and done properly, can yield some exceptional results.

Unfortunately, PPC advertising has now become literally swamped with adverts in most fields. The price of many clicks has been driven up massively, mainly because too many bidders are chasing the same terms. Today, it can sometimes be impossible to make a profit using PPC. In particular, where a sale requires a large number of clicks. So Search Engine Optimisation is now becoming a preferred method for many to get to page 1.

To illustrate the challenge: Get onto one of the Search Engines now and look for some keywords that you think apply to you. Can you see your website on the 1st three pages? Most likely not. Which means you’re just like the shop in the middle of nowhere. If the answer was yes, are those terms actually being used by customers?

You may have some successful experience of PPC advertising. But is your campaign properly managed? Is your investment really paying off? Which are your most successful areas? Every thriving campaign is dependent on split testing and measuring. You’ll never get the best results without correct figures.

It’s very evident today that both global and local commerce are moving swiftly onto the internet. Ensure that you’re going with the flow, and really capitalising on the technology available to win.

About the Author:

Search Engine Optimisation takes into account the factors used by Google, Bing etc. when they position web sites in their natural listings.

When we search for anything, up come the natural search lists. These do not include the paid listings. Generally, the paid advertising is on the right of the screen. A box at the top of the page will also contain paid ads. All the others are ‘naturally’ listed from the Search Engine’s index. Search Engines use algorithms to determine a website’s relevancy and importance. This is how they decide on which order to place them in.

Of course, we would like to be as high as possible on page one. No-one’s going to find us if we’re listed on page seven. We can’t know for sure about all the criteria Google and the like use to rank us. It’s not in the SE’s interest to tell people everything they do.

Nevertheless, an entire industry has evolved around Search Engine listings. On the one hand there are SE’s purposely filing a wide array of new patents. Causing much mystification about their methods! On the other side you have an SEO industry. This utilises a series of tests and measurements to determine the most pertinent factors.

The objective is to maximise both ‘on-page’ and ‘off-page’ optimisation. Off-web criteria also play a part in SE listings, (e.g. demographics). This doesn’t come under the remit of SEO though. For a full discussion of Off-Page factors, please refer to our other article on this subject.

‘On-Page’ SEO

This involves making your web pages ‘friendlier’ to the Search Engines. It involves ‘correctly’ configuring your web site. For instance: The correct use and density of keywords and internal linking; H1 and H2 header tags and meta tags.

It doesn’t matter if all that sounds very confusing.

In reality, this is very easy to control, but not wildly effective. Some would argue its effect is so small it’s irrelevant. There was a time when SE’s were ‘duped’ by On-Page optimisation. Not any longer though.

If, however, off-page has been optimised, (and there are many inbound back-links), then on-page continues to be important. If that’s the case, internal linking and a certain amount of on-page fine-tuning can reap rewards.

Things To Consider…

Do not START to SEO with phrases that yield millions of results. In a search for ‘Car Insurance’ on Google in the UK for example, you would find around 70 million results. Anyone can see it’s not wise to try and compete with 70 million other pages when you’re just starting out!

On the other hand… The phrase ‘Southampton Car Insurance’ only brings in three hundred thousand. (Assuming I was a car insurance provider in Southampton.) This still seems quite a large amount, but it’s actually not in search terms.

I would have a far better chance of getting ranked for that phrase quickly than I would for just ‘car insurance’. In actual fact, it takes very deep pockets to get a premier listing for a term like ‘car insurance’. My competition would be the huge corporations. So not a great idea – especially, in fact, when there are much better ways to go about it.

In fact, what we really need are terms that more specifically reflect our product or service. In the industry, we call these ‘long-tail’ searches – as they contain multiple keywords. Depending on how competitive your market is, the phrases could be from 2 to 7 words long. Typically they will be 3 or 4 words long.

In general, our recommendation is to begin SEO’ing with keyword phrases that reveal fewer than 500,000 results. (There are occasions when we might accept a higher yield figure at the start – when the top entries are not well optimised.) Then, as we build back-links, we’ll automatically start to gain some ground on the bigger search phrases. If we’ve worked well, we can start hitting the bigger terms in a few months time. It’s a much more targeted strategy. Frankly, we’re only interested in the customers who are looking specifically for what we offer. There’s much more chance these people will buy!

Don’t just limit building back links to your website’s home page – link them up to various sub pages as well. Google and the other Search Engines like this ‘deep linking’. Try back-linking product group pages. They often have links to several other sub-pages about individual products. So don’t limit the back links to one page. Google and the other SE’s are looking more and more at how individual pages on your site are listed and treated.

All online businesses can benefit from SEM. So we have to look at updating our modus operandi. Any service or product related company must have a website – that’s a given. Yet that in itself isn’t sufficient. If nobody can find you, you might just as well not be there!

Visualise this scenario – a group of business people set up shop: A lot of money has gone into setting it up. The staff are all poised – And discover they’re in a tiny backstreet, 3 miles out of the city centre on the 4th floor, and the road outside is closed due to a diversion. Nobody will know how to reach them. Can you see a fundamental flaw? The vast majority of business websites have just this problem.

The web has turned marketing on its head. As we left the 20th century, we all thought we had to have a web site. Getting a presence on-line became the be-all and end-all. Companies often spent a fortune on the latest features for their site. This trend was cheerfully encouraged by on-line design companies, who relished the business! Then everyone started to notice that they weren’t getting any traffic to their site. They’d thought that simply having a site on the web meant customers could see them. But unfortunately, this turned out to be completely false…

Websites have to be marketed, and in a completely different way to previous methods. A traditional marketing guru would tell you that your website is your online catalogue or advert of services. Therefore, you’ll need to utilise all the normal marketing channels (print, radio, TV, media etc.) to drive traffic to that site. In other words, doing what they know. First they make a nice looking catalogue. Then they utilise various marketing methods to get people to look at the catalogue. This is a fundamental misconception of the on-line economy.

Search Engines have sorted all this. This means, of course, that long established marketing methods are irrelevant! Because now, if you want to be found in the vast sea that is the internet, you have to be indexed in the Search Engines. But indexing alone isn’t the answer – as it’s a waste of time if you’re several pages down. Studies have proved that the vast majority of traffic goes to the first 5 slots on page 1.

But Search Engines are interested in making money – so to overcome high rating difficulties, paid advertising was introduced. You Pay Per Click, so you’re only charged for your ad when someone clicks on it. This caused quite a storm when it happened. Basically, the only time you now paid was when someone who was already interested asked to look at your site. Pay per Click is a very well targeted method of marketing. With the right knowledge it can produce a good return.

Alas, the market is bombarded with this form of advertising these days. New online marketers have forced up the price per click, largely through over-the-top bidding. Click prices are now so expensive in some markets that they’re no longer profitable. Especially where large volumes of clicks are required to make a sale. This has re-ignited the SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) flame. Those with expertise are working to drive their sites to the top.

Maybe you’ve already tried some Pay Per Click advertising so you appear in the paid listings, and maybe you’ve achieved some success so far. Are you managing your campaign well though? Are the returns you’re getting good enough? Have you got an eye on the stats that measure your results? With PPC, testing and diagnostics are critical. Your ROI will be compromised without sufficient data.

Global figures clearly demonstrate that commercial marketing is swiftly moving online. Companies must acknowledge this, to survive and flourish in today’s economy.

Do you ever have those moments when you absolutely have to make a good impression? I recently found myself in one such situation. I was invited to my bosses wedding. We aren’t exactly best pals but I really don’t want to harm our professional relationship. I knew my gift had to be classy and elegant. Who knows my gift might even help me get a promotion. I hit the internet pretty hard and began my search for the perfect gift. In my web travels I came across an interesting bit of information. President Ronald Reagan’s jellybean jar was a Waterford Crystal. It seemed like the perfect gift idea. As I was narrowing my search on Waterford Crystals I became increasingly interested in their rich history as a company and crystal manufacturer.

Waterford Crystals can be dated back to the Iron Age in Ireland. It is to this day one of Ireland’s most famous glass making contributions to the world. The crystals were originally produced in Waterford County Waterford in the Republic of Ireland by two brothers William and George Penrose in 1783. They quickly became world famous for their brilliantly translucent crystals which were being shipped all around the world.

The brothers fell on hard times and could not keep up with the immeasurable taxes their business had to keep up with. It wasn’t until a century later when the business was saved by Czech immigrant Charles Bacik in 1947. He opened up a new factory less than two miles away from the first one because the area was still known for its crystal manufacturing.

In November 2000, Total Research Corporation of Princeton, New Jersey, took a survey of 30,000 people in the United States and found that Waterford Crystal was the top-regarded brand, synonymous with world-class luxury and enduring value, edging out such blue-blooded luminaries like Rolls-Royce Bentley, Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Eastman Kodak, Bose, and even Heinz ketchup! So synonymous with elegance and social occasions, Waterford Crystal even makes the world-famous New Year’s Eve crystal balls that are dropped annually at Times Square, New York City. Weighing in at half a ton, each ball is made up of 504 crystal panels which are specially designed and cut to withstand the temperature extremes that can be found atop One Times Square from year to year.

Waterford Crystals may have begun as a glass making company, but they expanded into other luxurious collectibles, like porcelain, flatware, and jewelry. Starting out with only about 60 workers they now employ thousands of people worldwide. Much like the 1940s the company went on the market looking for a potential buyer and is not currently owned by KPS Capital Partners, LP. It doesn’t matter who is behind the Waterford Crystal reigns the company has not and will not change. They will continue to make elegant products which can be enjoyed by anyone of any generation. Whether its in a castle or on my supervisors mantle piece these products are here to stay.

Without a constant influx of knowledgeable network and computer support staff, commerce in Great Britain (as elsewhere) could well be drawn to a standstill. There is an on-going demand for people to support both the users themselves and their networks. As we’re all becoming massively more beholden to advanced technology, we also inevitably become increasingly dependent on the well trained IT networkers, who ensure the systems function properly.

Getting your first commercial position is often made easier if you’re supported with a Job Placement Assistance program. The honest truth is that it’s not as difficult as you may be led to believe to land the right work – as long as you’re correctly trained and certified; because there’s still a great need for IT skills in the UK today.

Get your CV updated straight-away though (advice can be sought on this via your provider). Don’t procrastinate and leave it for when you’re ready to start work. Getting your CV considered is more than not being regarded at all. Many junior jobs are given to trainees (who’ve only just left first base.) If it’s important to you to find work near your home, then it’s quite likely that a specialist locally based employment agency can generally be more appropriate than some national concern, due to the fact that they’re going to know what’s available near you.

Fundamentally, if you put as much hard work into getting your first IT position as into training, you’re not going to hit many challenges. A number of trainees curiously conscientiously work through their training course and then call a halt once certified and seem to expect employers to find them.

Lately, do you find yourself questioning your job security? For the majority of us, this issue only becomes a talking point when something goes wrong. But in today’s marketplace, the painful truth is that job security doesn’t really exist anymore, for most of us. Security only exists now through a rapidly increasing marketplace, driven by a shortage of trained workers. This shortage creates the appropriate conditions for a higher level of market-security – a far better situation.

The computer industry skills shortage around the country falls in at around twenty six percent, according to the 2006 e-Skills investigation. Showing that for every four jobs existing in IT, there are barely three qualified workers to perform that task. This worrying truth reveals the validity and need for more commercially qualified IT professionals throughout the United Kingdom. Undoubtedly, now really is the very best time to consider retraining into the computing industry.

The classroom style of learning we remember from school, using textbooks and whiteboards, is often a huge slog for most of us. If this describes you, find training programs which feature interactive and multimedia modules. Where we can utilise all of our senses into our learning, our results will often be quite spectacular.

Courses are now available on CD and DVD discs, where everything is taught on your PC. Utilising the latest video technology, you can watch instructors demonstrating how it’s all done, and then have a go at it yourself – in an interactive lab. It’s very important to see the type of training provided by any company that you may want to train through. They have to utilise video, demonstrations and various interactive elements.

Seek out disc based courseware (On CD or DVD) whenever you can. You’re then protected from broadband ‘downtime’ or slow-speeds.

Starting with the idea that it’s necessary to choose the market that sounds most inviting first and foremost, before we can even weigh up which educational program fulfils our needs, how can we choose the right direction? What are the chances of us grasping what is involved in a particular job when we haven’t done that before? Most likely we have never met anyone who works in that sector anyway. Consideration of the following issues is essential if you want to reveal a solution that suits you:

* Your personal interests and hobbies – as they can show the things will give you the most reward.

* For what reasons you’re stepping into Information Technology – it could be you’re looking to conquer some personal goal such as self-employment maybe.

* Is salary further up on your priority-list than some other areas.

* With many, many areas to train for in IT – you will have to achieve a solid grounding on what differentiates them.

* How much time you’ll have available to set aside for getting qualified.

In these situations, you’ll find the only real way to investigate these issues is via a conversation with an advisor that understands the IT industry (as well as the commercial needs.)

A valuable training package will undoubtedly also include accredited exam simulation and preparation packages. Because many examination boards in IT are from the USA, you must be prepared for the way exams are phrased. It’s not sufficient merely understanding random questions – it’s essential that you can cope with them in the proper exam format. As you can imagine, it’s essential to be confident that you’re absolutely ready for the real exam prior to going for it. Rehearsing mock-up exams logs the information in your brain and will save a lot of money on wasted exam attempts.

As we are getting progressively dependent on advanced technology, we also emerge as more reliant on the well trained IT professionals, who keep the systems going.

Many trainers offer a Job Placement Assistance service, to help you into your first commercial role. The fact of the matter is it’s not as hard as some people make out to find the right work – once you’re trained and certified; the growing UK skills shortage sees to that.

One important thing though, don’t procrastinate and wait until you have completed your exams before updating your CV. Right at the beginning of your training, list what you’re working on and get it out there! Various junior support jobs have been offered to people who’re still on their course and haven’t got any qualifications yet. At the very least this will get your CV into the ‘possible’ pile and not the ‘no’ pile. You’ll normally experience quicker service from a local IT focused recruitment consultant or service than any training company’s centralised service, as they’ll know the area better.

Fundamentally, if you put as much hard work into getting your first IT position as into training, you’re not going to hit many challenges. The age-old way of teaching, involving piles of reference textbooks, can be pretty hard going sometimes. If this sounds like you, check out study materials that are on-screen and interactive. Long-term memory is enhanced when we use multiple senses – learning experts have been saying this for years now.

Often, companies will only use training that is purely available online; and while this is acceptable much of the time, consider what happens if internet access is lost or you only get very a very slow connection sometimes. A safer solution is the provision of CD and DVD ROM materials which don’t suffer from these broadband issues.

* The type of personality you have as well as your interests – which work-centred jobs you like and dislike.

* Do you want to re-train for a certain reason – i.e. is it your goal to work based from home (maybe self-employment?)?

* Is salary further up on your priority-list than some other areas.

* Always think in-depth about the work involved to attain their desired level.

* How much time you’ll have available to set aside for getting qualified.

In these situations, you’ll find the only real way to investigate these issues is via a conversation with an advisor that understands the IT industry (as well as the commercial needs.)

Validated exam preparation packages are vital – and absolutely ought to be supplied by your training supplier. Avoid relying on unauthorised exam preparation questions. The way they’re phrased can be quite different – and this leads to huge confusion when the proper exam time arrives. As you can imagine, it’s very important to know that you’ve thoroughly prepared for the real exam prior to going for it. Going over mock-up exams logs the information in your brain and will avoid you getting frustrated with failed exams.

If you’re looking for Cisco training and you haven’t worked with routers before, what you need is a CCNA. This training course was created to instruct people with a commercial knowledge of routers. Commercial ventures that have several locations use routers to connect their various different networks of computers to keep in contact with each other. The Internet is also built up of hundreds of thousands of routers.

As routers are connected to networks, look for a program that features the basics on networks – perhaps Network+ and A+, prior to starting your CCNA course. You must have an understanding of the basics before getting going with Cisco or you’ll probably struggle. Once qualified and looking for work, companies will expect good networking skills alongside your CCNA.

If you’re just entering the world of routers, then the CCNA course is more than enough – at this stage avoid being tempted to do the CCNP. Once you’ve worked for a few years, you will have a feel for if it’s relevant for you to have this next level up.

The age-old way of teaching, involving piles of reference textbooks, is usually pretty hard going. If you’re nodding as you read this, find training programs which feature interactive and multimedia modules. If we can get all of our senses involved in our learning, then the results are usually dramatically better.

Interactive full motion video utilising video demo’s and practice lab’s beat books hands-down. And they’re a lot more fun to do. It’s very important to see courseware examples from any company that you may want to train through. They have to utilise video, demonstrations and various interactive elements.

It’s usually bad advice to go for purely on-line training. Connection quality and reliability varies hugely across most broadband providers, you should always obtain actual CD or DVD ROM’s.

Many trainers supply a practical Job Placement Assistance facility, designed to steer you into your first job. Sometimes, this feature is bigged up too much, as it’s relatively easy for a well trained and motivated person to find work in the IT environment – because there’s a great need for skilled employees.

Whatever you do, avoid waiting until you have finished your training before polishing up your CV. The day you start training, enter details of your study programme and tell people about it! Having the possibility of an interview is far better than not even being known about. A decent number of junior support roles are given to trainees (sometimes when they’ve only just got going.) Generally, you’ll receive quicker service from a specialist locally based employment agency than you’ll experience from any training company’s centralised service, as they will understand the local industry and employment needs.

A constant grievance of many training companies is how much trainees are focused on studying to pass exams, but how ill-prepared they are to market themselves for the position they’ve studied for. Don’t give up when the best is yet to come.

Charging for exam fees up-front then giving it ‘Exam Guarantee’ status is a popular marketing tool with a number of training colleges. But let’s examine why they really do it:

These days, we tend to be a bit more aware of hype – and generally we cotton on to the fact that we are actually being charged for it (it’s not a freebie because they like us so much!) Qualifying on the first ‘go’ is what everyone wants to do. Going for exams one by one and funding them as you go has a marked effect on pass-rates – you prepare appropriately and are aware of the costs involved.

Why pay a training college up-front for exams? Go for the best offer when you’re ready, don’t pay mark-ups – and do it in a local testing centre – rather than in some remote place. A lot of so-called credible training course providers make a great deal of profit through asking for all the exam fees up-front then cashing in if they’re not all taken. Most companies will require you to do mock exams and with-hold subsequent exam entries from you until you’ve completely proven that you’re likely to pass – which makes an ‘Exam Guarantee’ frankly useless.

Average exam fees were approximately 112 pounds in the last 12 months when taken at VUE or Pro-metric centres in the UK. Therefore, why splash out often many hundreds of pounds extra to have ‘an Exam Guarantee’, when it’s obvious that the best guarantee is study, commitment and preparing with good quality mock and practice exams.

So many training providers focus completely on the certification process, and forget the reasons for getting there – getting yourself a new job or career. You should always begin with the final destination in mind – don’t make the journey more important than where you want to get to. Avoid becoming one of the unfortunate masses that choose a course that seems ‘fun’ or ‘interesting’ – and get to the final hurdle of an accreditation for an unrewarding career path.

Make sure you investigate your feelings on career progression and earning potential, and whether you intend to be quite ambitious. You need to know what (if any) sacrifices you’ll need to make for a particular role, which qualifications they want you to have and how to develop your experience. The best advice for students is to chat with an experienced industry advisor before deciding on their study path. This is essential to ensure it features what is required for the chosen career path.

The best type of training package will have Microsoft (or key company) exam preparation packages. Don’t go for training programs relying on unofficial exam preparation questions. The type of questions asked is often somewhat different – and this leads to huge confusion when it comes to taking the real exam. Be sure to request some practice exams in order to verify your comprehension at all times. Practice or ‘mock’ exams log the information in your brain – so the actual exam is much easier.

SEO is an evolving study of the factors which search engines use to ‘rank’ you in their natural listings.

We’re unlikely to get noticed if we’re number 8 on the tenth page! It’s impossible to know about all the SE’s rank determining factors. It’s not in the SE’s interest to tell people everything they do.

But there is now a skilled sector entirely devoted to benefiting from high rankings. On the one side you have SE’s like Google deliberately filing technology patents in many different areas. Causing much mystification about their methods! On the other hand, there’s Search Engine Optimisation. This uses empirical testing and measuring of various factors to determine which ones are the most important.

There are two sides to SEO: ‘On-Page’ factors & ‘Off-Page’ factors. Geography and demography are also factors that influence page ranking. For a full discussion of Off-Page factors, please refer to our other article on this subject.

On Page Optimisation

If we can make changes to our site to make it more friendly to Search Engines, this is called ‘on-page’ optimisation. It’s not too complex – it just requires setting up your web site correctly. For example: The correct use and density of keywords and internal linking; H1 and H2 header tags and meta tags.

That might sound like gobbledy-gook, but don’t be alarmed!

It’s very easy to control on-page factors. But to be quite honest, they have the least relevance to your ranking these days. To be blunt, some would say it hardly has any effect at all. It used to be possible to ‘trick’ the Search Engines with on-page factors several years ago. That hasn’t been possible for a long time though.

On-Page can still be important though if Off-Page has been taken care of. When that’s happened, on-page factors can be optimised.

Some Words Of Caution…

Avoid doing SEO on keywords that have millions of listings. For example, on Google’s Search Engine you’ll see 70 million listings in the UK for the term Car Insurance. It’s not rocket science to realise that competing in this area wouldn’t be productive.

However… When I search for “Southampton Car Insurance”, it comes down to a more manageable 300K. (If car insurance in Southampton was my business!) A big number still it seems – but actually quite a small number when it comes to web searches.

I could expect to get ranked far more easily for the longer phrase. In actual fact, it takes very deep pockets to get a premier listing for a term like ‘car insurance’. I’d be up against massive multi-nationals! Not a sensible option for anyone.

We like to start Search Engine Optimisation using terms that yield less than 500K. (In some cases, we may go with a higher count – if the current page 1 results are not well SEO’d.) Then, as we build back-links, we’ll automatically start to gain some ground on the bigger search phrases. If we’ve worked well, we can start hitting the bigger terms in a few months time. This line of attack starts with more focus. Frankly, we’re only interested in the customers who are looking specifically for what we offer. There’s much more chance these people will buy!

Don’t just limit building back links to your website’s home page – link them up to various sub pages as well. Google and the other Search Engines like this ‘deep linking’. Category or Product Group pages are a good example. They often have links to several other sub-pages about individual products. Do not simply build links to your web site’s home page. The SE’s are becoming increasingly interested in how a site’s individual pages are listed.

I recently found myself in a sticky situation. I was invited to my supervisors wedding. Like that wasn’t stressful enough I had the daunting task of trying to find a suitable gift for my boss. I didn’t know much about her personal life so I decided to not get her something that might have the slightest chance of causing a scene. No time for inside jokes. I only knew her professionally so I decided to get her something classy and elegant. Something to wow her at the wedding, who knows something she’ll love so much she might throw a promotion or two in my direction. So I hit the internet with not much of a clue as to what classy gift I could give her. I somehow stumbled upon the little tidbit of interesting information. Did you know that President Ronald Reagan’s infamous jelly bean jar was a Waterford Crystal? For some reason that stuck with me and I did some more research on the delicate treasure.

Waterford Crystals were first made during the Iron Age in Waterford County Waterford Ireland. The crystals still remain as one of the most important additions to the glass making industry. The company was started by the Penrose brothers William and George in 1783. Their crystals quickly became a worldwide sensation with their expertly designed translucent look.

Unfortunately the brothers couldn’t keep up with all the needless taxes which were forced upon their business. It took about a hundred years for the business to get back on its feet when it was purchased by Charles Bacik a Czech immigrant in 1947. He managed to open up a new factory located about only a mile from the original Penrose brothers factory and started reviving the Waterford Crystal company.

With the company back on track manufacturing crystals they continued to gain popularity till this very day. In 2000 a survey was conducted by Total Research Corporation of Princeton, New Jersey to see just how Waterford Crystals rank among top luxury brands turns out that Waterford Crystal is preferred more than Rolls Royce Bentley, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Bose, Eastman Kodak, and Heinz Tomato Ketchup by 30,000 people. They are so popular in fact that they are the company who actually produces the balls that are dropped each year during the New Years Eve celebration which takes place in Times Square. The giant orb is specifically made to withstand extreme weather conditions such as low temperature, snow, and harsh blowing wind.

From its storied beginnings, Waterford Crystal has since expanded into other fine collectibles like porcelain, jewelry, and flatware, bringing its attention to detail and devotion to luxury to other upscale products. From an initial workforce of 50 to 70 souls, Waterford Crystal grew to employ well over a thousand worldwide. Unfortunately, in an echo of company history, the company spent the first half of 2009 looking for a buyer of its distressed operations and diverse assets. It is now currently owned by KPS Capital Partners, LP. But no matter who takes ultimate receivership of the legendary Waterford name, Waterford crystals endure as beloved heirlooms from generation to generation, gracing homes from Windsor Castle to my supervisor’s — and that’s the truest ownership of all, a Waterford masterpiece.

Now there is a way to make use of the PC and internet connection in your home. This is by using a residual income opportunity.

Many people don’t fully understand what residual income means. In layman’s terms it is the process of signing up to affiliate programs. Putting affiliate links on your website and getting paid each time someone clicks through them and makes a purchase. One of the best things about taking a residual income opportunity is that you only have to do a small amount of work to get paid.

If you want to know how to make money with a residual income opportunity here is how you do it. To start with you must go online and start to join worthwhile affiliate programs. Don’t waste your time signing up to the ones that offer peanuts for each customer referred. Opt for the ones that offer you at least $5 per customer. Do this and you will only need 20 referrals to earn $100.

Also make sure that you have your own website and domain name. These are essential if you want to start placing vital links that will make your money. Try to make sure that your domain name is easy to remember so people can get back their whenever they need to.

The next stage is to place all of your affiliate links onto your site. This is the most important part of getting your payments as without links you will not get paid. Every time someone clicks through a link you will be credited when they buy something.

Newsletters are another way of getting your links out to people. So get hold of software that will enable you to create them with ease. It is quite staggering just how much money you could make from well written newsletters.

Then really give your earnings a lift by creating as many opportunities as possible. So make the most of any spare time by joining more affiliate programs. You have no constraints on the amount you can join. So start signing up to more each day and you will see that your profits start to rise and rise.

Last of all you need to make sure that you are doing all you can to market your site. Take the time to regularly update your website with new material. Do this and you will have people returning there to see what you have added. Also make sure that you are sending out your newsletter on a certain day of the week or month. So to get the most from your residual income opportunity follow these rules and start earning.

Many people seem to confuse the term residual income affiliate with residual income. They mean very different things. Residual income is the amount of money left at the end of every month, after all the bills have been paid. It is regularly used by lending institutions and banks to decide whether a customer can afford loan payments. A residual income affiliate has to do with groups of online businesses and does not involve a bank at all, unless you want to count the fact that it may give you more money to put into yours.

This affiliation between online businesses is an excellent way to boost the sales of a web site and to earn some passive income in the process. In a residual income affiliation, groups of sites that sell cater to the same customer base are linked together. It probably seems detrimental to link the competition’s site to your own, but it actually can be of great benefit.

These affiliations help to boost the page rankings of all of the member sites. This can lead to increased traffic which is the only way to effectively boost sales.

In addition to an increase in sales, a residual income affiliate also provides your business with a form of passive income. When a sale is generated on another site through a link that was placed on yours, that site will pay you for the favor.

It can seem a little confusing at first. Let’s put it into real world terms and see if that helps to clear it up. Pretend that there is a three member affiliate, sites X, Y and Z, and all of them sell pet related products. Keep in mind that most of these associations have many more than 3 members and that the more members, the greater the income potential, but for our example, three is sufficient.

Even if site A does not have the appropriate keyword for this particular search, site B or C may. So, the customer sees site B in their search results and opens the site. Here, they find not only the business they were looking for, but also links to sites A and C.

Now, if once the customer has looked at the coffee makers available on site 1 they decide they also want to purchase coffee, it is easy for them to click on the link to site 2 or 3. If this results in a sale for either of those two sites, then they would pay a finder’s fee to site 1.

The amount of the fee varies but it is usually based on a percentage of the sale. Even a small amount is a bonus when you consider that your business did not have to do any additional work to get it.

A residual income affiliate can be a great advantage to any online business. The trick is to associate with the right sites. Focus on finding those with a higher search engine page ranking than yours and it will pay even greater dividends. If you still aren’t sure how all of this works or if you want to know how to get started, check out: http://www. HotResidualIncome. Com/pips. Html.

About the Author:

When I was recently obliged to show up with something for a supervisor’s wedding, it was a chance to make a good impression for myself by presenting something elegant and beloved. I only knew this lady professionally, but understood that standing out in her mind on more personal terms might be professionally useful one day. Searching online for elegant gift ideas that would really make a mark, I came across the factoid that President Ronald Reagan’s jellybean jar had been a Waterford crystal. Something about this meeting of the formal and the irreverent caught my imagination, and after selecting a Waterford crystal picture frame I became very curious about the history of these highly collectible treasures.

What I found was that despite an ancient pedigree harking back to the early Iron Age, Irish glass making’s most famous exemplar still remains the Waterford crystal, produced until recently in the busy port town of Waterford, County Waterford, Republic of Ireland. It was two Quaker brothers, George and William Penrose, who founded the first incarnation of the business in 1783, making crystal of such pure translucence that their wares soon found markets throughout the world.

Unfortunately, the manufacturing business could not raise enough capital to keep up with the terribly excessive taxation of those times, and it would have to be well about another century before the totally defunct enterprise was resurrected by a Czech immigrant, Charles Bacik, in 1947. He and a partner had their new factory set up less than two miles from the original one, probably in order to capitalize on the still-resonant reputation of Waterford crystals, which reverberate down to this day.

While Waterford Crystals are known for their luxurious crystals they have also dabbled in producing many other types of elegant collectibles such as flatware, jewelry and porcelain figurines. They have a humble beginning with only a few dozen workers but now their workforce stretches into the thousands employing people around the world. The company as seen a revival of business when it was acquired by KPS Capital Partners, LP. Waterford Crystals will continue to produce luxurious collectibles which are enjoyed in castles to my bosses modest home.

By comparing the different affiliate programs out there they have come up with that has made the most money. This is how they have decided which affiliate programs they will link you up with. During the past decade, never has a fruit become as popular so fast as the acai berry. This naturally grown fruit has found a prominent place amongst the world’s most health centered professionals and many continue to debate its health gaining benefits.

The berry is described as a grape-sized berry that is dark purplish in color. Moreover, acai mainly grows in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil where is it planted and harvested for worldwide distribution. Many have described the berry as being very nutritious containing high levels of antioxidants, omega fats, and concentrated levels of trace minerals.

Lately, mainstream media has picked up on the popularity and growing interest in acai and have invited experts on the subject to appear on their television shows. For example, Oprah once devoted a segment to the health benefits of taking acai when she invited Dr. Oz as a guest on her show to explain what acai berries really are.

The acai fruit has become so popular that even celebrities have endorsed its merits by inviting experts on their programs to talk about the Amazon berry and the impact it is having amongst healthy shopping consumers.

Aside from being extremely interesting, this berry is one of the healthiest fruits in the world and is categorized as a super-food alongside many others. Studies show that this fruit is so rich in vitamins and minerals that it may even help people suffering with chronic health problems and diseases.

As more and more people take acai as a health food supplement, some of the more common benefits reported by users that take it on a regular basis include:

* Increased energy and stamina

* Improved overall blood circulation

* A deeper sense of relaxation

* An improved cardiovascular system

* Clearer mental focus

* Occasional weight loss with more frequent consumption

* An improved digestive system

As you can see, there are many benefits to taking acai berry as a dietary health supplement. If you want to know more about it, a quick search on the Internet will reveal a number of websites where you can get additional information.

It is obvious that a diet rich in antioxidants helps to promote a healthy life. Eating certain types of fruits and vegetables is key factor in getting the right level of antioxidants in your system. In either case, you should seek to maintain a state of health that consists of getting the essential amino acids, vitamins and mineral either as a supplement or through natural foods.

Even though many people take dietary supplements as a means of not having to follow a strict diet, studies have shown that supplements alone will not have the same effect as natural foods unless they are combined with a dietary intake of food containing natural antioxidants. This is the best combination and has been proven to produce the greatest results.

Foods such as black berries, tomatoes, garlic, tea, carrots and spinach are a rich source of nutrients. As long as you are getting the proper balance of these, then it is perfectly fine to take additional enhancements such as vitamins C and E and other mineral supplements. This should all be combined with regular exercise to get the greatest results.

Can taking phytonutrients nutrients help to reduce the aging process? A decade of research seems to suggest so. Phytonutrients extracts commonly found in certain vegetable and fruits and is a known of phytochemicals that greatly affect the production of body cells and skin tissue.

Phytochemicals come in different forms and are classified as antioxidants. The results of proven research should be a clear sign that we all need to use the natural compounds contained in plants as an essential part of our diet in order to stay healthy and live a long productive life.
