There are so many different ways to promote your restaurant, what are you waiting for? Engaging in a public relations campaign, an advertising campaign or a direct marketing campaign can all be fun if you remember that the concept of eating out is supposed to be a great social occasion. Don’t look at this as a chore, but rather as one of the most pleasant jobs associated with running your business.

You have probably built up a good relationship with certain customers over time and if you feel that you know some that are particularly loyal then you could get them to help you promote your restaurant. Ask them to contribute posts which you can put on your blog, write reviews, be active on their Facebook pages, for example. Not only can this be a great “word-of-mouth” exercise, but it can be very cost effective, for just the cost of an odd appetizer here or there.

Whenever you come across a prospective customer, you should do everything you can to get the e-mail details. Be prepared to give them something that they value in return for this information and remember that e-mail marketing is one of the top ways to promote your restaurant. Once they have agreed to receive information from you, the sky is the limit.

If you have been able to get e-mail addresses for clients, try and find out the important occasions, such as their birthday. Then you’ll be able to set up what is known as an auto responder which is a system designed to send out messages in advance of the special dates. Offer to give them a free meal and they will invariably come in with a number of their friends as well.

There are so many different themes that you can think of to promote your restaurant including different religious holidays, special occasions and other gimmicks. Do some research online and you would be surprised at the ideas you come up with, linked to special menu items and so on.

A PR campaign will promote your restaurant really well if you have something important to say. For example, you have just taken on a new famous chef or have a particularly tasty item available on the menu. Today, press release distribution is easy, highly cost-effective and will definitely bring you exposure if you do it well.

How many media outlets have you got in your neighborhood? The chances are that there are a number of radio stations and some free newspapers around. Do some research and look to see whether they have any existing food critics or restaurant reviewers in evidence. If not, get in touch with the editor and they will almost certainly be willing to listen to you if you offer to provide your services as an expert for free.

Social media is the buzzword these days and anyone who has a business should be involved. Promote your restaurant by creating a Facebook page in the name of your business. Start a blog and keep it maintained with regular menu items ideas, articles about types of food and so on. The secret here is to make sure the program is maintained regularly.
